I have EVO, wife has Moment.

Wife likes the full keyboard, i hate that the Moment keyboad's buttons...are soft/smushy with a pin prick of a button to push...takes me 5 times to hit the space bar as it's some HUGE button but only the very middle of it will work to make a space..you can hit the sides all day long and nothing happens.

Evo All The Way, The Only Thing That Makes Me Kinda' Jealous Is The Super AMOLED. Damn! Why is HTC So Cheap?

Jeez - they're not.

Samsung was their AMOLED supplier and they cut them off because they couldn't meet demand (not because they wanted the EVO to be the suxorz and Galaxy FTW). Samsung's building another $2.2 billion fab right now to overcome the problem; they're already a huge consumer electronics supplier and they don't care if they make money selling phones or the parts for them.

As for any other hardware deficiencies you think you have with your cheap EVO:

I invite you to follow my line of thinking on this in this other thread.

And before we get carried about the camera's codec, here's the thing on that:

And while every idiot "reviewer" in Android-land is explaining how only other phones like the Droid X or Galaxy S have GPUs - that's just not true!

ALL of the super-duper smartphones have them.

The EVO uses a single semiconductor called a system on a chip (SoC) - they all do.

In the case of the EVO, that's a 1 GHz Snapdragon 8650, designed by Qualcomm, manufactured under license by TSMC - one of the biggest chip suppliers in the world (if not the biggest) and certainly one of the very best.

Snapdragon 8650=Scorpion Core plus (AMD Z430 GPU plus 600 MHz DSP core (floating point, if I'm not mistaken))

The Galaxy S Pro uses the Samsung S5PC110 (Hummingbird) processor. Its GPU is a PowerVR SGX540.

On paper, that model Hummingbird is indeed superior to that model Snapdragon.

None of these phones have separate GPUs - you only upgrade the entire SoC, and if you do, then you're in for changing a lot else on the phone's motherboard - just like on a PC.

And if you'd like to learn a little about the details of the Scorpion CPU core in your Snapdragon, that's here:

I never knew ppl were saying the EVO didnt have a gpu. lol Its even there in the wiki....It just doesnt have a specific name at Qualcomm site.

To me, it is kinda hard to find detailed info about the Snapdragon.

I work in the semiconductor industry, so I knew where to look.

That's how I ended up grabbing the collected works and references on all of these processors - it started out as funny, this stuff all over the web:

"Say, Bob, this new Droid X/Galaxy/you-name-it is going to kill the competition because of its separate GPU!"

"That's right, Ted! Our interested readers may also like to know that GPU stands for Graphics Processor Unit, and with that separate one in that phone, people are going to have play catch up!"

"That's right, Bob! And they did it for an amazingly low price! What were the other guys thinking?"

"Right you are, Ted! Stay tuned for next week's YouTube where we slag the hell out of this product and tell you you're a buttmunch moron for not buying what we show you then!"

"Bob, when you're right, you're right! Keep those web advertising clicks coming on strong people!"

But when people starting CARING what the moron sites had to say - to the point of believing them, it gave me a brane dammige and now I'm insane and gonna die.

Just like that Teddy Bear salesman in that hilarious YouTube somebuddy else posted the other day. lol

PS - The choices are really simple.

1. Choose the network that suits you - I like Sprint and Sprint pricing.

2. Choose the best phone in your budget that meets your needs.

I didn't want to wait, I wanted the first 3G/4G phone with two-way video conferencing Skype-to-Skype using the Fring client and the ability to play movies out of an HDMI port.

Until someone makes the Global Link from the Earth: Final Conflict series - and a few have actually gotten a little in the neighborhood - I'm immune to device envy.

...this should have just been a poll... makes no sense to just write "Evo or Epic"

Yep - and in another forum, as Fonseca pointed, as this is going to serve as little more for yet another thread where no one reads anything, jumps in, and posts away.

Bet me that in a future post, someone's going to mention and ask the same exact things already discussed.

Bet me. ;)

So, Seeing as we are right around the corner of the end of the 30 Days since purchase of us Evo owners... i want to hear what you guys have to say about the upcoming Epic 4G? are you going to stick with your Evo? or will you be waiting for the Epic?

as for myself... i like the thought of having a qwerty hardware keyboard, the Super AMOLED looks beautiful and that Hummingbird Processor is begging me to buy it (gpu is better than Snapdragons)... BUT i know i will miss that extra .3" real estate and Sense UI... also, as many others, i really don't like the look of the Epic 4G (especially with a name like that!) it looks like one of those phones you can get for $50 :D

So what are YOUR thoughts?! i also would have added a poll here, but i haven't a clue how to

I'm sticking with the Evo. I had the HTC Touch Pro and while the keyboard was okay, it made the phone quite thick and there were always weird glitches when opening the keyboard and the screen switched to landscape.

What I do wish the Evo has was that processor. It's 45nm as opposes 65 on the Evo (i think) which will be much better on battery life at the same processor speed if not more speedy. And the phone also probably wont be frame rate limited like the Evo and won't be bogged down by Sense.

Bottom line is I like the slate feel of my Evo. I'm satisfied with it, and once 2.2 comes out I won't even care about the Epic. I'm sure engadget will do a comparison soon and I am curious if the camera or 720.p video recording looks any better. Basically the only thing interesting me as far as that phone for a is the screen and processor, but not enough to want to switch to it. It's not a big enough improvement over the Evo and new Android phonea are, and are going to be coming out like crazy always and they will all be a little bit better everytime. Next time I upgrade to a new phone it'll probably have a 2fuz+ processor with Android 3.0+...

And also, my dad has a Samsung Moment on Sprint and it took his phone to get 2.1 after like 6 months or something so Idk about Samsung and their updates...
