Android better than iPhone?

I am currently an iPhone user that has a jailbroke iPhone. I was thinking about making the switch to a new android phone but I do not know much about Android. Is there anyone out there that can give me some feedback as to which they think is better and why?

Android forum = android favoritism (most of the time)... but anyways... i think the biggest difference is that android will do everything (or most of) your jb iphone does but without having to jb the phone (root for android), emulators, multitasking, widgets, home replacements, keyboard replacements, live wallpapers, etc.

Both are very unique, and very good depending on your usage

iPhone: steady stream of updates, walled garden, app store, easy to use

Android: more community based updates, open, market still iffy, easy to use but more computer like and technical.

I've used both and can't say I prefer one over an other. Android is probably the best overall package though.

I think there are many reasons to go one way or another.

My personal reasons for going android is that I don't appreciate Apple's closed system.

I do not believe it makes for higher quality apps, I believe it stymies development. For instance the App approval process, the requirement to develop in Native C.

I hope today's news forces a more opened approach to Apple.

i wold say both are up there and this is my opinion as a ex-jailbreaked iphone 3gs user:
pros: are the community the non power hurgry cash -nomers that is Apple as the manufacturers (nom-eating ,eaten etc) and back to serious internet typing the iphone is more trendy and apple has deity level marketing and with apple there is restriction restrictions restrictions imo

cons: type of phone ,only 30fps as the caps for frames but with rooting you can get lots of fps etc im tired goodnight

I made a switch from a 3GS (Non jailbroken) to a nexus one and im not looking back. Never regretted the switch, im loving the android platform.

So much to do, widgets, plenty of free apps that are even better than paid iphone apps, changable battery pack, built in wifi tethering without having to break out of jail, very constant application updates, flash support, flash on camera, large community support, and plenty of customisation.

Nothing else comes close

Android better than iPhone?
If it suits you better, yes. It's a highly subjective question unless you're talking to fanboys or marketing.

If you want some meaningful suggestions, give us info on what you're specifically looking for in a smartphone (you always have to qualify exactly what you mean by "better", regardless of topic). Otherwise, prepare for the fanboy rants.
