so frustrated - verizon, water mark, and my power button

Ok so I'm very frustrated. I had been having troubles with phone calls. When I call someone or receive a call, everyone once in a while, I couldn't hear anything (no ringing or talking and even my voicemail). Sometimes this would happen for a few minutes, a few hours, or even a entire day one time. So I'm busy in college w/o a car or time to go to verizon and finally on black Friday I'm with my family and a car and am able to go to verizon (this was about a month after this problem started that I finally made it). The guy at verizon who "troubleshooted" my phone was worthless. He kept calling his phone with mine and once they connected would hang up, even when I told him, the problem is not being able to hear ringing and talking, which he wasn't doing as he was holding his phone up to his ear... he then opened my battery cover and saw that I had a red water mark (despite never dropping it in water and using a case on it to protect it from rain). He said that b/c of the water mark and the inability to replicate my problem he can't help me. I was so pissed off (after I explained everything and was told I can't be helped) that I stormed out of the store and was fuming for a while. Now, about 3 days later my power button barely works. It wil turn the phone on about half the time but the power button doesn't move down when I push it. Am I just completely screwed?? Is there ANY way to solve any of my problems (the power button, the water mark or the faulty phone calls)??? Thanks for the help I would seriously appreciate any.

I hate to say it, but their terrible customer support is why I left them nearly five years ago. At the time I had a motorola Q and, remarkably, it was doing a lot of the same things (not to mention frEezing all the time on the crap windows mobile, but that is beyond the point). They basically said they couldn't do anything for me. So I told them I would like to cancel my line then and there. I did that, and haven't had Verizon since (although I thought about it, but ultimately decided against it again).

Best of luck, but with a water mark you are going to have a hard time getting your phone warrantied.

The water mark is a huge concern. It means somehow humidity / water was introduced. Do you have insurance? Maybe get a new phone through the insurance?

I am going out on a limb here and guessing the answer to this question is a big no. He could have had a new phone weeks ago if this was the case. But... stranger things HAVE happened! ;P

you can't be mad at a rep because YOU got humidity in your phone! (although i will agree, he sounds pretty worthless)

take it to another store, hopefully you'll get a better rep. every company has bad reps and good reps. i've always had great customer service with verizon, even before I started working for them. i've found after working here for a while that when people say the customer service is horrible 80% of the time it's people feeling entitled to something they're not (like a warranty replacement when there is water damage to the phone, or going over on their minutes and expecting a credit every time) and blame the rep for not being able to help them, when it's their fault in the first place. Alot of times we bend the rules to help customers out, but not all reps do! for instance if you came in my store you'd have a new phone by now! :D

I'm sorry that you got horrible customer service. How ever because of the water mark, it dose not mean that you dropped it in water.. do you take the phone into the bathroom when you are gin the shower. sometimes the steam and humidity from the hot shower will cause the water mark to go. Now since the water mark is ther eyou are not covered by warrenty. but what you can do is go into the store and ask them to purchase insurance on the account.. then call this number 888.823.4540 this is the number for assurion the insurance company verizon uses. They cover everything from softwear issues to total breakage to water damnage. I woudl wait a day to call. This will work and you will get a new phone

Hope this helps!
