Is there a True Evo 4G successor coming soon?

I don't know if there is a true successor to the evo 4g coming anytime soon. If there is I hope it's built by htc and called evo 2. I hope it is spec'd out exactly like the samsung galaxy note and maybe come with a quad core processor. in my humble opinion that would make it true successor to the original EVO.
Must have a kickstand or it's not a successor.

Samsung Epic 4G Touch, but still no kickstand, and still not compelling enough for me to drop two hundred bucks and two more contract years on.

I'll admit, the epic touch 4G was very tempting to get. I love that phone. But I just didn't want pay full price for it. I think its a safe bet for all of us OG EVO owners just to wait till LTE.

it is a nice phone spec wise, but i did not like the plastic feel to it. it did not feel like the evo feels in my hand. the build quality did not impress me much.

would like to see the galaxy nexus come to sprint, however.

I checked out the GS2 and I really liked it. Granted, that was a 3 minute play around at the sprint store, but the camera was pretty damn fine. Did the video and playback was perfect. I'd like to see that video on a proper tv though, not the phone's screen.

And I don't really like how 'evo' has become sprint/htc's brand, instead of a phone. There were (I believe) two 'evo' tablets...

Evo, Evo Shift, Evo3D, Evo 4G Design, then some tablets... though I can't recall their name and haven't the internet speeds to go gallivanting around for that minor information... (just assume it was something like "evo plate", or "evo swipe")

And because the Evo name has become a brand, don't expect any phone to ever feel like a true successor. So far, the phone most improved from the OG Evo is the Evo 3D. This is the true successor in my mind.

The successor to the Evo 3D IMO will be running on a quad core processor, possibly higher resolution screen than qHD, base Android version will be 4.x. Kickstand would be nice.

Novox nailed it. And I think my initial enthusiasm for the Evo 4G when announced is what fuels my distaste for the branding. I remember the shift was made out to be a weaker Evo, but with a keyboard (makes sense, some people like that (even though sprint had the Epic...)). Then the 3D, Evo with 3d, but better specs. Makes sense. But all these other things... they don't sit well with me. :(

+, I'm really diggin' all your Evil Dead stuff ocn. :D

i think for me the only complaint i have with the 3vo is the screen. it is a little skinny for me. they should have kept the same dimensions as the og evo. i would suggest that you guys at least play with it along side the the og evo and see for yourself how much the 3vo is a step up from the evo.
Yeah they look nice. Do you use the 3d? I don't think I would, but it seems cool enough.

Besides the shift, the 3D is the only other "Evo" that I recognize (and the Evo 4G of course). I'm not sure Evo 2 will happen (with the naming convention going on ... and the fact that 3D sounds > than Evo 2... )

Annnnyway.... I can't wait for the phones around when my contract finally runs out. But then, we really don't know how long sprint will exist do we... seems they are taking a big risk with the iphone...

Granted, that is just a link to this site, and it's not a "professional", or "scholarly" source, so trust it if you want. I do, so that should be enough right? ... eh.

yeah u know as much as i have been playing with it, i have only taken a few 3d pictures. i also watched that stupid green hornet movie. that is one movie that should not have been made into 3d. not even sure why htc and sprint allowed that movie to be on the phone. for me 3d is only a conversation piece and not much else. i'm just enjoying the speed and smoothness of the phone.

but do not get me wrong i really miss my evo.

I have a BestBuy about 1.5 miles from my house and I go there all the time to "play" with phones. They have a display 3vo that I've become familiar with, and to tell you the truth, I really don't feel right holding it. It's bad ass don't get me wrong, fast as hell and the 3D pictures are really cool. The screen is wrong to me now. It's too skinny after owning the OG. I wanted to upgrade my wifes Hero to the 3vo and swap out phones to get it, but I'm not so sure now. If the Hero lasts for another 8 - 10 months I'm on the quad core train, if not, I don't know where I'll end up.

3vo or MoPho?

one of my daughters had to have the MoPho, Its an awsome phone but has a battery problem. When the phone has good signal it last all day with no problem when it dont including poor phone signal it only last like 3 1/2 hrs. Its not rooted tho and i know motorolla keeps sending updates then pulling them because there is some problem. Over all tho the phone is real fast and has a ton of mem and storage. Most important it has a kickstand.

BUt I would get the evo 3d .

that is my only gripe with the phone is the screen. but honestly when your playing with it, you do forget about the screen. especially if you can overclock the phone to 1700, it is like i have trouble holding on as it just flies. i found a rom with stock kernel that is giving me great battery life. to me this really feels like it is the successor to the og evo. i still have my evo, but i have a hard time putting this phone down. but i do understand where you are coming from granite.

Damn 1700 eh? Pretty slick. And here I'm having my Evo almost half that... I'm sure that when my sprint contract is up the phones will just be insane. I can't believe that someday the Evo will feel "archaic".

i still play with my evo, but more and more the phone is loosing the allure it once had for me. i have found a sense 3.0 rom for the 3vo that gives me the best battery life. it is almost similar to aosp roms for the evo.
