speculation, rumors, leaks about EVO release

So many questions, so few answers!
So now we have got three different days worth keeping an eye out for.
Tomorrow
April 16th
June

Oh man it would really freaking blow my mind if tomorrow they announced the EVO would ship on the 16th but I really don't see that happening.
I really need to stop contemplating all the possible rumors and just wait for an official announcement of this stuff, lol.

I would love a June 6th date to be honest. That is technically before the start of summer. I worry, however, that it won't be until July and I'm kinda bummed they announce things this far in advance. They did that with the Pre and lost all kinds of momentum.

I bought two Pres last year on launch day and for some reason one of the lines has a $150 upgrade discount available but not the other. Not sure what's up with that but if I'm waiting until June or July then it will be moot. Just sucks to wait another 2 and a half months when I have a hole burning in my pocket and a Pre that has been acting up.

I called Sprint and they screwed me good... My upgrade date isn't until December because they said 1.) premier status is added not when you first begin a sprint plan (I started in April with 2 lines then when the Pre released added a line mind you...) but some time after what ever that means & 2.) I asked why both of my lines weren't available for upgrade and the answer was only the primary line is upgraded every year. All other lines must wait 2 years...

IIRC you have to be a Sprint customer for x amount of years to become a premier member.

So let me get this straight...Sprint is giving you a massive rebate a year earlier than any other carrier and you're complaining that they won't give you two massive rebates? You realize those rebates are worth like $300-400 and are based on the idea that they will recoup it over the course of your contract? When they let you jump a year on your main line it is like giving you a lot of money for nothing, not to mention the fact that the plans are way cheaper than the competition.

Premier status starts after you start a qualifying plan (anyone feel free to correct me on that one). I was a customer for years but didn't qualify until I added my girlfriend and bought two Pres on a family plan.

It's hardly screwing you over when a company gives you free shit just because you still want more. Compare to the competition and vote with your wallet if you find a better deal.

Well they just closed my Su[ersonic thread so it looks like i will be spending most of my time here now =] I have a friend of mine who is a former employee at sprint and is getting me the low down. He said the employees will be called after closing into a room for a conference call. Keep you posted Jackson
I would like it if you posted in the "Official EVO 4G / WiMAX Thread" some. :)

I second that. So glad to have Jackson (Supersoncial) here in our humble little group. So much friendlier than the aggressive Incredible forum. But hey, I can understand their aggression... after all, they got the runner up prize.

When I get this phone, my friends will be so jealous.

Oh, sorry for combining multiple topics in one post, but regarding investing in Sprint, yes, it is a pretty good bet that teh stock will go up. If you don't have spare cash to invest, you may have another option. Open a self managed IRA (I did mine with Ameritrade) and then rollover your old 401k or another IRA if you have them. Now you can pick and choose your investments.

So like I said in the wimax thread (its hard doing this by cell) that must have been on drugs cause I could not find the reference to the stock option reference in the wall street journal. So if it is about the evo tomorrow great. Either way my mistake ended up gaining sprint more stocks being bought.

TS out (going to jail for inside trading)

IRONICALLY apple now is the PC of the past. Remember the old commercial where the lady with the big boobs ran into the room with a sledge hammer and smashed the video screen:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_(advertisement)

Back then IBM was the dominant force and apple was just a small company trying to make a dent in IBM's sales. Sure it took a while...but look at Apple now. It's a pattern in trends and technology that will continue forever. Autosuggestion is right. Look at Apple's powerful marketing campaign and drones of followers - not just with the iPhone. It might take a while but Google is trying its best to be the next big boobed girl wielding a sledge hammer to Apple's dominance

I simply thank you for reminding me of this... I remember this, I was only 4 years old to, I remember how cool it was I didn't even know what was going on I just remember how cool it was... youtube time!

I have had confirmed rumors that the Sprint meeting tomorrow may be to train employees on the Evo. Bestbuy has already started this process so it would make sense for Sprint too also. N1 is the other large possibilty

I think I finally have this figured out....

it's probably related to the EVO, but not just the EVO, this is probably a motivational meeting that will focus on this importance of this being a successful launch and how important it is that everyone is on the same page about this device. basically, this is the CEO reaching out to make everyone feel accountable and excited about the company's near future.

man I'm tired and that is a bit choppy, but hopefully I got my point across

Someone (bendispo) on sprint community posted the following. Thought I'd share it here:

Interesting qik account of Sprint Senior Marketing Manager:
Trevor Van Norman (trevorvannorman) on Qik | 36 videos recorded with mobile phones

Looks like there are tons of videos he's been streaming to qik via his EVO. ;-)

Including one interesting Sprint meeting... where it seems to suggest that the phone will be released in 2 months... (It talks about keeping buzz going for 2 months, when they had to keep it up for 6 months with the Pre)
