I've been reading a lot of threads about how upset people are about not getting the 2.1 update yet. After some thinking, and asking around to see how upgrading situations are handled in different environments this is what I came up with...
I think Google and the phone makers are trying to get most of the phones on the same page initially. This can be a long, drawn out process as you all are experiencing right now. Verizon (along with other carriers) are still trying to nail down the OTA situation along with other options if the OTA doesn't work. Once they get this initial process down, I think the updates with come a lot quicker. The 2.1 update will come to the Eris, but it will just take some time. I think once this happens, the updates with fly out without any problems.
It can be aggravating to hear it's coming next month, it's coming next month, but it will eventually come. I do think that after this first update comes out, everything will be a lot smoother.
...jus my two cents here.
