Root downloading a rom?

ok well i finally got a dx that works great with no problems! i rooted it with z4root and then downloaded droid x bootstrap and did a backup with it and thats as far as i got. im thinking about downloading apex but i dont know where to find it. apex seems to be a good noob rom from what ive read in here. so basically my question is where can i find it to download it and what would i need to do after downloading it?
