Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

  1. Welcome to the worked of a rushed phone lol. I have been waiting for HTC as many for them to fix the thunderbolt radio issues for almost a year now. Still my phone will go from 3g to 1x to nothing many times a day. So hope Google can fix yalls problem soon. Sucks not having the phone part to work right unless its the wife calling. Lol

I think it's time you exchanged. I've never had the problem and I've had multiple calls over an hour in length.

Alright, wanted to check with the family.

Anyone use a password manager? If so, what is the best, and is there an android version of it?

As I am getting closer to 40, with 2 little ones, I find that remembering passwords is becoming tougher - especially since I am venturing out more into the cyber world and just about everyplace has a username and password.

    Thanks everyone - as usual.

I was going to exchange, as Verizon is aware I'm having problems. The only reason why I haven't exchanged is because I've read plenty of posts from people stating an exchange didn't fix the issue. I knew that a Galaxy Nexus was a "developer" phone and I don't mind putting up with minor quirks and bugs. But not being able to make a reliable phone call seems to be a pretty important issue. I was also sold on the idea of getting updates quickly and directly from Google... here it is almost two months after activation (12/24/11) and I'm still on 4.0.2. Maybe I have the wrong idea of "getting updates quickly and directly from Google" as I assumed anything would be better than Motorola's horrible reputation for updates to fix well-known issues. I'm just concerned that since 4.0.3 has turned into 4.0.4 and is rumored to now be 4.0.5, six months will go by and the release will be known as 4.12.87 and still not available OTA.

Don't mind me, I'm just whining a bit.

Thanks BB. Does it use it's own web browser? Or will it use the default one. The website makes it sound like it uses it's own.

Exchange it, the majority are having no issues with that. Here's the scenario you've put forth for Google:

    A. Release 4.0.3 even tho it still has known bugs (Android OS, radios...etc) and listen to people gripe about them.

    B. Take another month or so and work out as many as they can, then release it as 4.0.4. Meanwhile listen to everyone gripe because the update is delayed.

You've given them a no win situation.

Btw, I'd like to point out that Moto has already said it will be 4-6 months (this was the end of December) before the RAZR is updated to ICS and HTC has only given a timeline for a few devices (not even mentioning the rezound) to START in April. I'd say we're doing pretty good as far as updates go.

I didn't mean any of this post to be offensive or personal, just trying to put it into perspective.

Ummmm good question. I literally use it as storage for the passwords and info only.

Ah, I see. It looks like it will do automatic fill in for the fields. Which is something I'd be really interested in as well. Otherwise, I could always just create a word document (password protected :D) and keep that in dropbox or a google doc.

Anyone else use a password manager? Pros, Cons?

I am with you Lucky, I did exchange mine; I am already on my second phone and second SIM, with the same problem. I am leaning towards a software problem. I was hopeful the updates would help and was waiting for the OTA but decided to flash the leaked one in desperation. We have to remember that they only sent this update to some, think of it like a trial, it has improved the phone, just not our problem. I also thought the updates would come quickly and yes, the core function, telephone, should be a priority.

I don't, but I do lock the Nexus with a number pin outside the house and have had Wave Secure, now McAfee, installed for several devices. Remote lock and wipe via text from any phone.

After loading 4.04 and re-rooting, I kept getting a red outline flash around the screen when I opened apps. Took awhile but found it under developer options, strict mode. It was making me crazy...;)

Not offended at all. I know I'm coming off as a bit whiny. Maybe more than a bit. ;) But seriously, I do understand it takes time to test these kinds of things. And I'm all for waiting longer for something to be tested properly. Perhaps I'm a bit anxious that as of March 16th, I still don't have a job and the only way to interview (since there's zero privacy at work) is to walk outside and sit in my car on my cell phone. I'm getting tired of telling interviewers to call me right back if they all of a sudden can't hear me. That's not Google's fault of course, but even though I'm trying to maintain a stiff upper lip, I think I'm starting to feel the pressure a little. So forgive my sniveling. The problem will be fixed, I know... I just have to be patient.

And no one killed the place... we're getting ready to watch The Walking Dead. Braaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiins!!

Can we even exchange anymore? I thought our window closed weeks ago. Or do we get refurb phones now? I'd hate that, honestly - every refurb phone I've gotten has something wrong with it.

They come from Verizon, not new in a box but not necessarily refurbished. Depends on what they have, I got certified like new, the packaging is the same.

Is "like new" not the same as refurbished? Either way, it's not new.
