My friend wants to get the evo and keeps saying evo is better, even though he is on tmobile. I need some help to prove him that Galaxy is the way to go! Any suggestions?

He looked up one, the guy was totally biased to the vibrant and he trusts that. He hasn't even done research and he thinks I am wrong, but I have the phone! Lol.

Is he a nerd or just one of those kinds of people that want the hottest thing?

Also does he know that he can't easily switch to a Evo?

Spec by Spec the Evo 4G *IS* slightly more "Tech Worthy" in some areas than the Galaxy S. (Camera is 8MP vs 5MP, front facing camera, direct HDMI out)

Can't even COMPARE the screen or internal storage, though.

The only two things that I see the evo has over the vibrant are the FFC and bigger screen.

the vibrant takes better pics with its 5mp camera than the evo (stated by most reviews and my experience), as well as records smoother hd video. It also has video out as well as hdmi out. it has a faster processor/GPU and super amoled screen. Tmobile's 3G is currently faster than sprints 4G.

So in my opinion, the vibrant is a lot more "tech worthy" than the evo.

Let him get the Evo. If someone has their mindset, you'll never change it and if they do, they'll always wonder in the back of their head if they made the right decision. When he does get it, compare the devices side by side and show him how much better the Vibrant is. He can use the 14 day return period and come back to the Vibrant

Just let him read the article about how Clearwire and Sprint both admit to making a mistake by investing in WiMax. Now Clearwire and Sprint have to figure out how to keep supporting these devices on a soon to be outdated network.

Some other factors that lean towards the Vibrant:

    *Got mine for a penny.
*EVO doesn't even come with an ear piece. Unless my buddy lost his soon after opening the box but he swears it only came with a charger. He paid $300 at the Sprint store and they gave him a $100 mail in rebate which he should see in 6 months...lol.
    *super amoled
    *t-mobile > sprint.

Megapixel numbers aren't everything in a digital camera, only a starting point. The camera in the Vibrant is excellent.

All I did with this image is downsize it for the forum:

Or why not wait until November when the new Enterprise Bazinga comes out? It will blow the G2 into space junk.

Have your friend read this... it was originally posted by me in the vibrant vs evo thread over in the evo forum. The Epic 4G offers much more, keyboard, led indicator, ffc, flash, and 4G capable. However, it costs 249.99 after 100 mail in rebate. The Vibrant can be had for 0.01 on amazon for new customers, or costco 49.99 upgrading customers. Also I think T-mobile is better than sprint.

Lets stick to the facts please. Simply put, the evo is the slowest 1ghz super android phone released, failing miserably in almost every benchmark. Galaxy S phones have the fastest CPU and GPU of any Android device. T-mobile customers have been enjoying 5-7 mbps download speeds on HSPA7.2 for a long time now even on old devices, and now that T-mobile is going to roll out HSPA+ devices, expect 12-21MBPS, and lets not forget, HSPA+ is expected to hit the 41mbps mark. So while we enjoy 5-7 mbps using our old devices, sprint is barely rolling out 4g, which is still slower than t-mobiles HSPA+ network, which again will get speeds of 12-21mbps starting with septembers HSPA+ device.

So lets clear up some facts. Samsung Galaxy S has the fastest 1ghz CPU and GPU. The Snapdragon used in the EVO has been branded the slowest 1ghz chip.

Evo has poor graphics performance. Every online review has shown that iPhones 5 megapixel and Galaxy S 5 megapixel trump Evo's poor performing 8 megapixel. Camcorder in the Captivate is getting wide acclaim. No Flash on Vibrant? No worries, the cam is built with Night Mode Technology, no flash required.

Galaxy S phones are extremely thin and light weight, Evo Feels Bulky.

More Facts. Galaxy S phones use gorgeus Super Amoled screens that are true wide screen and peform stellar under the sun. The image is outstanding. Evo is not true wide screen, the display is not even slightly close to the gorgeus image available on Vibrant.

    Memory:
Evo has 1gb ROM, 512 mb RAM :(

Vibrants memory....drum roll please. 16 gb internal memory with 2 GB dedicated to aplications! Holly Cow! Comes with external 2gb card loaded with Avatar, upgradable to 32.:eek::eek::eek:

Who has the best Customer Service in the industry. T-mobile. News Flash, T-mobile just won for the 6th straight yr in a row, JD Power and Associates 2010 Award once again for Best customer service. Who has been coming in last place every year for the last decade... aww its sprint again.

END OF DEBATE, HSPA+ is FASTER THAN 4G.

Fastest GPU: Samsung Galaxy S phones

Evo Last place in more benchmarks:
    http://androidandme.com/2010/07/news/galaxy-s-lineup-leads-the-pack-in-android-gpu-benchmarks/

    Evo poor results.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilx_cpGZczM&feature=player_embedded

Galaxy S phones Blowing away all phones including DroidX, Samsung Galaxy S phones officially have the fastest GPU and CPU:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/androidandme#p/u/1/zgoQHxy-0mM

So the evidence and facts are clear. The Samsung Galaxy S phones including the Vibrant outperform the Evo and Sprint in every aspect from camera performance, cpu, screan, gpu, and yes T-mobiles HSPA+ is considered faster than 4g. Lets not forget about 6yrs in a row JD Power and Associates Excellence In Customer Service award to T-mobile.

While Evo has a kickstand that constantly tilts over and falls flat on it's face, Vibrant comes with something functional. A full copy of the highest cash cow movie of all time, Avatar! Avatar takes full advantage of the Super Amoled screen, try playing Avatar on the EVO, and well the experience will be sad.

I see only 1 advantage of the Evo, it has a FFC. Thats it, 1 single advantage. Now lets get real, raise your hand if any of you had a successful face to face video voice call using your FFC. Oh wait, why isn't anyone raising their hands.

Both phones have had issues at release. I wont remind Evo owners of all the issues. I will point out however the GPS has had issues on Galaxy S phones. Not to worry, Samsung has officially announced an update fix will be released soon.

Return the Evo and wait for the Epic 4G.

Last but not least, How could I forget this. Gorilla glass!!!!!!
It is no secret Evo screens shatter, even a gentle 1 foot drop shatters the Evo Screen. Some evo owners have even reported what appears to be a spontaneus screen shatter upon gentle screen use.
So what about Samsung Galaxy S phones, do they shatter? NOPE, they use Gorilla Glass. So go ahead Samsung Galaxy S owners, drop your phones, your screen won't even scratch.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xASJobjD68&feature=player_embedded

    So lets see:
    Samsung Galaxy S:
    Faster GPU
    Faster CPU
    More Memory
    Super Amoled Screen
    Gorilla Glass
T-Mobiles Faster Data Network on Vibrant
T-Mobiles Award Winning Customer Service for Vibrant
    Super Light weight
One of the thinnest if not the thinnest Smart Phone

    Evo:
    Slower Cpu
    Slower GPU
    Horrible Graphics
    Sub Par Screen
    Screen Shatters easily
    Horrible Customer Service
    4G thats actually slower than T-Mobiles HSPA+
    Bulky phone
    Heavy Phone
    FFC.. okay thats 1 plus
Kick stand that tilts over if you try to use your capcitive touch screen

Also the Epic 4G will have a keyboard. So if you don't like the keyboard, DONT EVER USE IT. Because the EPIC 4G will still be lighter weight with a keyboard compared to the EVO, and still basically the same thickness.

Once Again, I know someone is going to bring up the GPS issue. Samsung has released an official statement. The GPS issue is going to be fixed with a soon to be released update in Septemeber. Again some idiot is still going to bring up the GPS issue. So one more time, Samsung has officialy stated they are tested a fix that will be available in Sept. 3rd time, for the mentally challanged, Samsung IS RELEASING A FIX FOR GPS.

Again, Sprint will soon have the Epic 4G.

    Update: Epic 4G unboxing video
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=060L_OZFe-M

why the heck do the videos double post!

Update: Here is another Samsung Galaxy S phone killing the Evo, this time its the Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4G up against the Evo.

the camera has more mega pixels but it is nowhere near as good. I had one and returned it. The video and camera are much better on the vibrant.

The megapixel myth was started by camera makers and swallowed hook, line and sinker by camera measurbators. Camera makers use the number of megapixels a camera has to hoodwink you into thinking it has something to do with camera quality. They use it because even a tiny linear resolution increase results in a huge total pixel increase, since the total pixel count varies as the total area of the image, which varies as the square of the linear resolution. In other words, an almost invisible 40% increase in the number of pixels in any one direction results in a doubling of the total number of pixels in the image. Therefore camera makers can always brag about how much better this week's camera is, with even negligible improvements.

This gimmick is used by salespeople and manufacturers so you feel as if your current camera is inadequate and needs to be replaced even if the new cameras each year are only slightly better.

One needs at least a doubling of linear resolution or film size to make an obvious improvement. This is the same as quadrupling the megapixels. A simple doubling of megapixels, even if all else remained the same, is very subtle. The factors that matter, like color and sharpening algorithms, are far more significant.

The megapixel myth is also prevalent because people always want a single number by which something's goodness can be judged.

Unfortunately, it's all a myth because the number of megapixels (MP) a camera has has very little to do with how the image looks. Even worse, plenty of lower MP cameras can make better images than poorer cameras with more MP.

The just-released Samsung Vibrant was specifically named as one of "more than a dozen smartphones" to "benefit from enhanced speeds" when in HSPA+ coverage. In addition, TMO promises more information on their first fully HSPA+ capable phone "later this summer". T-Mobile also mentioned the launch of a new "webConnect Rocket 2.0" USB Laptop Stick with HSPA+ and a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook with webConnect.

Check out the full press release (minus the boring legal stuff) after the break.
"BELLEVUE, Wash.—July 21, 2010— Today, T-Mobile USA, Inc. announced the continued expansion of its super-fast mobile broadband network to more than 85 million Americans—the most pervasive network to offer 4G speeds1 in the country. T-Mobile

sooo... if I'm reading correctly the Vibrant is not a fully capable HSPA+ device but it does benefit in HSPA+ coverage areas.
