Help In-call issue

I just got my S4 and upon attempting to make my first call, there was no sound. The person I was calling could hear me but I could not hear them. It was resolved when placed on speaker phone. I have made several calls since on speaker with no issues but it is just dead silence when trying to make a call regularly. Is this a known issue? I am getting the phone replaced but I am just wondering if maybe I should go with something else.

Did you try adjusting the volume?

Volume button works fine. I can even see the bar on the screen showing I am adjusting it. There is absolute dead silence on the phone during calls.

Sounds like you may have a defective phone then. I'd take it back and get a new one. I haven't heard of this being an issue on this phone, so I wouldn't worry about it happening again. It was likely an isolated case.
