Yea, I think the plan is to eventually make VZW just a pipe. The partnership with Skype is just the first step. Soon all calls in and out of VZW will be VoIP.
shame on you skype for making this verizon exclusive.
That is what I have heard they plan to do with LTE. I wonder if they will start adjusting the rates for data plans.
a few years? you act like that the near future.. lol. again shame on you skype
When you get to 200+ years BiGMERF 2 or 3 isn't really a big deal.

Why did VZW accept this voice thing and AT&T rejected Google Voice from their app market? This Skype thing is even free! Apart from the simple, and maybe obvious answer that AT&T simply sucks scrotum, why does this Skype thing seem too good to be true? I don't think I'm ever in a place where Data OR WiFi isn't available, so why wouldn't I just use Skype to call a friend? If I use Skype, do they need Skype, or is it like the desktop version of Skype where I can call land lines? But then would it also cost money like the desktop version, to call land lines?
I saw this video yesterday or the day before and it really made more questions while answering none of the old ones.
I'm going on vacation in mexico soon.
The video said there would be no data charges. So does that mean that I could use it on my eris in mexico to make calls to a computer in the states over 3g and not be charged any international rates?
Because it probably is. The original announcement from a month ago talked about Mobile Skype to PC Skype as free, via data plan. Skype to home or mobile numbers is charged against your calling plan. There was some specific, yet incomplete language in the original announcement that can only be answered by the actual product release. It's highly unlikely that any carrier would cannabalize their calling plans at this point....why does this Skype thing seem too good to be true?
