g1 frozen

hi, i have a g1 that currently stopped working. the battery died, so i charged it. when i tried to turn it back on, it froze on the black screen after the android screen. i have not rooted my phone, and tried a soft reset but it gets stuck at the same part. my phone is updated to the latest version that is available. any help would be apprieciated.

i know what to do .. hold the home + power button keep holding it evern when its on & then pres alt+w when prompted then u good

Alt+W will wipe all the info, I dont want to lose everything, especially after i flashed it to cm4.2

I am using the default charger that came with it and havent had problems until today. Basically I used it until it died today and now this it wont charge slash it starts up and gives me this black screen too..

HELP!!! I have only had my g1 for like 2 weeks, please dont tell me it died already!

Sometimes, sacrifices have to be made if you want things to work...

why would this happen?

Perhaps you didn't install it properly?

It should reset to CM 4.2, I think.

A wipe shouldn't be a problem if you backed up your rom. I just went through the process of installing 5.0.1 CM and had a bunch of trouble, but I was able to return to my backup with nandroid.
