Do you think this "ver 002 vs. Ver 003" theory is possible?

Hi folks,

I've seen lots of posts about the different Versions like 002 and 003 having varying build qualities. I've also seen some speculating that during the first week all 3 versions were being sold.

I just read another post that stated EVOs were assembled in more than one factory.

Do you think it's possible that the versions refer to which factory they are built in? Sprint does need some way of tracking down where each phone was assembled for tracking quality problems.

I'm finding it hard to believe they revised the build 3 times in the first week.

Anyway just a guess, I'm probably way off. :)

It's simple. Manufacturers will ALWAYS buy the least expensive parts that work in their products. If manufacture A only had 50K screens at $3 each, and Manufacturer B has 500K at $5 each, you can bet they are going to use up the cheaper ones first. Trust me, I work for a consumer electronics company, and this is how we save a few bucks times 50K.

You are missing a very important point.

It does not matter which factory they are produced at. What matters is the hardware inside the phone.

There are about 4 basic parts, the 4g radio, screen, wifi/cdma, and processor.

Now, if you can only get 50,000 screens of brand x type and you plan on selling 300,000 phones, you need to get 250,000 more screens.

So you talk to brand x, y, and z. X gives you 50,000 which becomes version 1. Y gives you 100,000 which becomes version 2. Z gives you 250,000, which becomes version 3.

All the versions are assembled at the same place, just with different parts. The version just tells you what hardware is in what phone.

It is not the same hardware, just made better, it is different hardware.

Which means that phone 3 will have the same manufacturing problems as phone 2 if they are made at the same plant. For example scree rising up.

Phone 1-2-3 from A plant my have zero problems. Phone 1-2-3 from B plant by have some problems. Phone 1-2-3 from C plant will have massive problems.

But phone 1 may have a faster memory then phone 2. Phone 3 may have a brighter screen then phone 1. Depending on the differences between the phones.

But those are performance problems, not build problems. Build problems happen by factory, and there is a good chance that any factory can produce any hardware version of the phone.

There's no consistant difference between 0002 and 0003.

I'm tired of hearing people say 0003 is the "fixed" build. I have 0003 and I have light leakage, and the grounding issue.

Word.... I have an 002 and the only issue I have is the grounding problem at the top of the screen. It is unfortunate that so many believe that 003 is better than 002, cause it just ain't true near as I can tell.

Version 2 and 3 have nothing to do with factories. Version two and three have different parts. and are even different colors.

So not true... Just because they use the same parts doesn't mean each factory uses the same care in assembling them. Also, there might be several manufacturers and or factories making the components that go into the phone and each HTC factory could get its parts from different ones. There are a lot of variables that go into manufacturing.
Well I don't think they revised it 3 times in one week as there doesn't seem to be any 001 versions out there. They are slightly different though as far as screen and touch sensor goes, though neither phone seems to be dominantly better in terms of hardware or reliability.
Most likely hardware version 001 was the prototype as I haven

Okay, then don't say 2=metallic and 3=black when that isn't the fact.

It is a fact. The build 3 phones have flat black backs on them. How do you know someone didn't swap your phones black back at the store and give you an old metallic grey back? That could have happened.

Build 3 flat black battery door:

BetterMost - i hate to say this, but is it possible that you might be wrong. I remember having to fight with you over my replacement when my front camera sparked and melted, and you just have to be so over the top about things.

Just because your experience with a 002 and 003 version would indicate that you have a different batter door, that is hardly scientific evidence that all 003's and all 002's are manufactured the same way.

Clearly there are people providing you with evidence themselves that they have 003 models with charcoal grey backs. I am in fact another person with 003 and a charcoal back. Just because your phones were different doesn't mean that every 002 and 003 is the same as what you have experienced.

Can't you admit that sometimes you might actually be wrong?

The difference is your here to fight and im not. Im here to share my opinions. These are my opinions like it or not. I'm not fighting with anyone here they are trying to pick a fight with me. If you don't like what I have to say just move along and please skip my threads. I'm not trying to be wrong or right here. These are my opinions and my personal findings.

I'm not here to pick a fight at all...but I do get tired of reading so much misinformation that people (ie you) try to pass on as fact. You state that you are sharing your opinions...if that were true, i'm all for it. Everyone can benefit from hearing others' opinions and stories. But that's not what you're doing as evidenced below by your claim of "fact":

It is a fact. The build 3 phones have flat black backs on them. How do you know someone didn't swap your phones black back at the store and give you an old metallic grey back?

What you state here simply isn't true....not all build 3 phones have flat black backs to them...so don't tell people that they do.
