Is anyone waiting?

I wanted to wait for the actual OTA notification from Google. I have (okay, 'had') a completely stock unrooted N1 running 2.1 update 1 and was determined to do things 'by the book'. I feel like the damned owl in the Tootsie Roll commercial ... I couldn't wait and had to manually update to FroYo.

Just curious, is anyone going to wait?

yes i'm waiting. i modded all my previous windows mobile phones, but this one I paid 400 dollars for and there's no warranty or anything so i don't want to screw it up. i'm hoping the radio improves. I'm having iphone4 ish antenna issues. (bars drop when I hold it)

Hey I'm like you, I really wanted to get the OTA and never manually updated a thing untill I had to go one day knowing the OTA was out and not getting it. I just couldn't resist anymore.

No regrets tho!!

Ha Ha! That comment about the owl in the Tootsie Roll commercial cracks me up.

Yup, here I am...waiting...still waiting...

It's so frustrating but I'm hesitant to update on my own. I know that people say it's easy to do but I figure if I've waited this long, what's a few more days? Right? Ugh!! Who am I kidding? If I don't get the OTA by Sunday, I'm manually installing it. :p

Currently:
Nexus One 2.1-update1
Build ERE27
T-Mobile

I having the same idea. Though I'm in the UK with a n1 from vodafone. I hope vodafone aren't holding froyo back!

I too am waiting for the OTA update. I just received my N1 two days ago, so I figure I can wait a few more days (hopefully just days) while I explore what 2.1 has to offer. But I have to say I am getting impatient, reading so many forum posts and engadget comments from people who have received their OTA updates. I don't know how much longer I can hold out; I may head down to Ampitheatre Way and start knocking on doors soon.

I'm also waiting. As an Android virgin, I am used to flashing cooked ROMs on my WinMo devices. However I am less at ease with the *nix environment and have decided that I will stay stock. Besides, there is little need for me to want for anything that root could provide.

I'm waiting for OTA and judging by the Vodafone UK statement referred to elsewhere on the forum (relating to changes they are making to Froyo) I could be waiting for a few more weeks.

And now we know how old you are ;)

When you update (yes, you will) there were a few things in the instructions I found unclear or incomplete. For example:

6. You'll be booted into a white screen with three Android robots on skateboards. Select "Bootloader."

7. On the next screen, select "Recovery."

But how? Had to figure this one out ... If "Bootloader" isn't already selected (it was for me) you navigate the list with the up volume and down volume buttons and you select by pressing the power button.

9. Now press the power button and volume up button at the same time. It could take a couple of tries.

It works better if you press and hold the power button and then press volume up. Took only one try for me.

Once I got through all the steps it just did its thing. It did restart a few times, but I didn't have to do anything. It might appear to hang on a couple of screens, but give it a few minutes and it will move on.

Then get your spoon because you'll be enjoying a big bowl of FroYo. Yummy.

Yes, and it appears I'm about as old as you are. ;)

Lunatic, thanks for sharing your experience on updating the N1. It's helpful to know which procedure works best when updating.

So I hear there's yet another update out there?? I haven't received any. I hope I get the OTA soon. I do realize that manually updating will not void the warranty but I tend to agree with AnotherFatalEpic, in that receiving an OTA update "makes it feel more official".

Besides, I kinda feel like Roze did before she decided to update...

...like "one of those chicks that can't read tech instructions"
