Accessories Energizer Universal 8000mAh Portable Battery Pack

Just ordered one. Already have two JustMobile 4400mah chargers for both me and my wife. This one will make it possible for me to just carry one recharger when we're together and still have plenty enough for more than 2 full recharges each. We rarely need to recharge at the same time so this solution should work when we're not using our individual JMs.

Nice find.

I have a similar Energizer pack, but about three times the power rating (give or take). I used it for a week on a trip a while back when I forgot my iPhone charger. Charged just fine via USB. I even used it with my laptop for a while when I was diagnosing a GFI problem with a low battery.

These packs have 3 outputs: 1 USB, 1 low volt, and one high volt (relatively speaking).

Oh, and about their "Free tips" bit: it's fluff. You don't pay for any tips no matter how many you order, but you still pay $6+ or so per tip for shipping and handling. Mine shipped in a tiny unpadded bag that visibly showed the postage as $1.25 for three tips.

Why buy the tips if the USB output works? I have telescoping USB-microUSB cords that I just bring where needed. Helps avoid these device-specific tip issues.

Sounds like they're really cleaning up on the shipping + handling like TV marketed products do.

The price is what I paid for my 4400mah charger so almost 2x the juice on the go will be nice.

I had to buy some for other non-USB devices -- laptops, PSP, DS, Kindle, etc. Plus, once you start getting multiple devices to charge, a single cable with interchangable tips is a lot more convienent than a lot of different USB cables. I think I had a coupon back then (we're talking two years ago), so it dropped the price/tip down a good bit.

Now, if you're just going to use a standard USB cable and all your devices run with it (or the included tips), that's awesome. I just had a lot of other proprietary stuff :p

EDIT: I haven't checked in the past 6 or 7 months on their price/tip. It could have changed since then.

Yep. I have a bunch of tips from Gomadic for my Evo items, but everything else I have has cables. About 50% of them use standard mini-USB so I'm down to carrying that and one retractable cable and 2 tips from Gomadic to charge everything but my iPods. I have a retractable cord for them too so two cords to charge everything's pretty good.

Proprietary chargers never were a good idea.

Agreed. Right now, I'm down to a USB cable that came with one of their small packs + tips in a little bag and a standard MicroUSB cable. That way, I can charge my phone in the car plus another device of my choosing (my car charger has two ports - one 500 mA and the other 1000 mA -- it also has an integrated wall plug).

I also have the large battery pack in my glove compartment for those "crap I forgot the charger but I'm in the middle of nowhere" moments (like when I was away on business for a week) which has the laptop cables. I even have an inverter for emergencies that has USB + standard 3 prong plug.

Inside I have, well, at least five of everything :p

Yea, I hate being without power.

I just got mine from woot today. I will try to post some pictures of it next to my empty evo case and a deck of cards.

It's a pretty good deal. Comes with lots of tips for different devices, but I use my own Gomadic retractable Evo tip. Recharged my Evo 5 times before it couldn't charge any more. Pretty much had the Evo on 4G and streaming just so I could test the recharges in one full day cycle.

Just need to note that it takes a long time to do the initial charge - it took all day. I think the manual said 8 hours so I just plugged in and unplugged after work.

The LED lights are helpful, and I like that they only light up when on, when charging, or when you're checking charge level.
