very serious issues with the moto droid. PLEASE HELP

OK. so here is the scoop. I rooted my droid, was running a custom rom, new kernel, all the good stuff a rooted droid can do. One day on a day, off from work i decided to fool around with ROM manager, to see which roms were cool and if i like them or not. my phone was rooted at 2.1, by the way. so i downloaded a couple roms but didnt really like them, so i downloaded the froyo kangerade v5.0.9 and i seemed to like it. This is where the fun starts. I went into setcpu and it said that i had no root access, non of the kangerade scripts from that said app were working, and i couldn't get the lock screen to work when i tapped the power button. After that i realize i cant receive calls for some reason. It also says that im running 2.2. handcent sms wasnt working right. I tried to boot into recovery (holding down X on the keyboard...) and it wouldn't work. and when i went into settings>privacy>factory data reset.. nothing worked. i can still make calls, text, google talk, but i cant check my vmail unless it's from another phone. i did some research and i came out with maybe i have to flash the recovery image.. but i dont know what that means.

some other points... every single time i try to reboot into recovery either using kangerade scripts or doing a hard reset it just boots normally. i dont have to slide to unlock, at all. and most of all i think its a serious issue. I know very little about all other things needed to be done which is why i need your help with pretty much a walkthrough on how to fix it. just a solution to get it to factory settings would be great.

THANKS!:)

Kangerade seems to have more problems than some of the other 2.2 roms from what I can tell from reading all the threads. I went with bb v .4 because it seemed the most stable of the 2.2 roms. Everything on my phone is working beautifully.

Spend some more time reading about the different ROMS in the all things root section and it will go more smoothly for you. (I"ve only been rooted for about 5 days but spent weeks reading first)

Do what ska.t73 said. Not being able to get into recovery when running a 2.2 ROM is actually a common issue.

And @bemenaker...I have to respectfully disagree with your assessment of Kangerade. It runs perfectly on my phone. Not a single issue at all. Kangerade version 4.0.7 and version 5.0.9 have never rebooted or given my phone any trouble. And my battery life is amazing. Just yesterday I took my phone off the charger at 7:30am, had the usual amount of usage for me (many texts, about 10 phone calls, Facebook, Twitter and browser usage as well as listening to music for an hour during my run) and at 7pm I streamed an MLB game using my MLB app over 3G (the entire game). When I went to bed last night at 11:45 my phone was at 40% battery life.

What MLB app streams games? I own MLB.TV but I can't get it to work on my Droid.

I guess I should have been a bit more specific. The app is called At Bat '10. It's $14.99. Unlike the iPhone version the Android version doesn't show live video. So if you're an MLB.TV subscriber this app probably won't do much for you. What you do get, however, is live streaming audio from the radio broadcasts of the games. And you get to choose home or away (I'm a Phillies fan living in Wisconsin, so I like to be able to listen to the Phillies radio guys). I used to subsribe to MLB.TV but I decided not to this year.

I figured that's what you meant, I was just hoping I was wrong. :)

I know this is the wrong place to have this conversation, but do you know of anyway to listen to the radio broadcasts I get from my mlb.tv on the droid so I can listen when I do yard work/run?

Did you wipe gour data and cache three times before you installed a new ROM? You must do this unless it it just a minor upgrade to an installed ROM.

You should really ask this in the all things root section... However to get the recovery back you need to go into ROM Manager and go to the bottom and hit "flash alternate recovery" then flash ClockWork Mod Recovery... The reason it says you are on 2.2 is because Kangerade is a Froyo ROM which is Android 2.2...

this worked, but it's weird. im still running the 2.2 and everything that i had but now it just suddenly works. thanks a lot! :)
