Root Why should I root my X?

I had the original Droid and never rooted. It never appealed to me. I like clean and simple and I had that without root. BUT, when I saw the 1 click root app i got it for my DX just cause. The only reason I see myself using the root is for WIFI Tether. Sooooo sweet. But, when 2.2 comes out, I will unroot, update, then reroot once the Easy Root app is updated. I honestly cannot see myself using root for anything else. Also, I rooted on the DX when I heard abou Easy Root just because I can and it was easy. And it gives me expansion in the future...maybe?

I see that there is now a 1-click root utility for the Droid X. What benefit do I have if I root it?

You gain FREEDOM. You're no longer required to live on a diet of what Motorola or Verizon feels like feeding you. With a rooted phone, you're free to explore the increasingly larger variety of roms and themes that the talented developers are offering. I have Gingerbread (Android 2.3) on both my Motorola Droid 1 and my HTC Incredible - the developers have already released stable versions for those two phones - so when and if Motorola and HTC choose to release "official" OTA updates is a matter of indifference to me and to the many other people who chose to root their phones.

The same principle applies to the Droid X. Root your phone and you can avail yourself of Liberty 1.5 and several other top-notch roms, which increase the functionality of your phone. Nothing but good things come from rooting.
