Rumor has it the European Galaxy's are already leaking Froyo, obviously a Fascinate version is likely to come last. Interesting to see the hopefulness for next month
Are you referring to the official OTA, or a leaked 2.2?
If it's the official OTA, then you'll be lucky to get it by Christmas IMO. If I still had a Fascinate, I'd be more interested in getting an update for 2.1 that fixes the numerous bugs and such that is keeping the Fascinate from being a super awesome phone (right now it's just Awesome ).

Yeah I guess I didnt specific that. I do think by Halloween we should have leaked Froyo and hopefully some custom ROM's but yeah the official one is probably still quite a ways away
This is one of the very things keeping me from getting a SF and keeping me on the fence between it and the Droid X. Samsung seems rather inferior with support for its phones, and the fact that they've released the series of phones with GPS issues and not provided a fix of their own (ffs it took a guy not working for Samsung to provide a decent fix, albeit requiring root) further scares me away from the phone.

Root is not difficult at all. I am no expert and with the detailed directions it took about 5 minutes. Not to mention with rooting the phone you will almost always get the new os weeks(if not months) before the carrier pushes it out
I never implied rooting the phone was hard to do. You have to remember, the percentage of those who own the phone and actually have chosen to root it is a rather small percentage.

My sister didn't root it herself, but she had me root her Fascinate for her. She loves it. We both love our rooted phones. The Fascinate and the Droid X are both great phones from the start, but I really think rooting sets them free.
