Root What is MoDaCo?

Hello guys

I got my hero a week ago and ive been using this forum a lot. But then i saw a lot of threads whit something called MoDaCo. What is it??
What can you do whit MoDaCo? Does is speed up your hero or something??
And how do you do it? is it useful?

Hope you will answer those questions, at the moment i dont know anything about hacking the hero(if it is hacking)

MoDaCo is a custom ROM, sometimes referred to as MCR (MoDaCo's Custom ROM). It's really something best suited for the more advanced Android users.

It provides some tweaks that are arguably faster. It also has some features (such as Google Search By Voice) which are not available in the current Official ROMs for the Hero. Other than that, it adds some features that are impossible with an Official ROM, such as Apps2SD and Wifi Tethering.

If you're the technologically savvy type, I recommend looking into it, but if you're more of an average user, you're not missing out on a whole lot.

Does installing it void your warranty? I've got an unlocked Hero and i pay insurance monthly, if something happened to it would I still be able to claim?

I doubt you'd see much improvement over the 2.73.x update.

I might point out that MoDaCo is a website geared to those who want to get the most out of their smartphone. They have forums on Android, Apple and WMobile. Some really good cooks have been on that site over the years and some even have come over to the Droid. Probably the best known convert is Blazingwolf. He did some really good WM 6.5 roms for the Samsung Omnia and I loaded it when I had the Omnia. He now says he is going to learn how to cook ROM's for the Android world. His ROM's tend to be for the everyday user and is not so scarry.

Look for things to get better in the next weeks and months for us because of the good cooks out there.
