captivate vs other u.s. galaxy s phones?

Ok, so I have been happy with my captivate since launch... can get pretty laggy sometimes but overall I have been happy. On Halloween my gf broke her phone so she had to get a new one. She decided to upgrade to the Fascinate(shes with Verizon) because she liked my phone so much.. I have played around a little with hers and I have to be honest hers blows mine out of the water... Everything is MUCH snappier, apps load like a snap. I would say takes an average of 5-10 secs for a app to open on my phone and bout 1-4 on hers. I ran some side by side stuff, opening last.fm and starting a station, her 1st song was 30 seconds into it before my song stared.. I ran a benchmark, hers ran through the whole test in about a minute.... took mine 6 minutes.. she has zero lag, why is this? also I noticed that looking at the Memory and she always has about 9000kb more free then i do..

Is it just the fact that mine was a launch phone and hers is brand new? am I missing something because after messing with her phone im feeling a little ripped off.

Dont get me wrong I still like my phone alot but after seeing hers I cant understand why hers seems so much more.... polished.

Also I noticed she has some of the features that captivate is supposed to be getting in the 2.2 update... color system icons etc..

anything? lol

It's possible that it the lag in question is in part due to the number of apps you have installed. I didn't see it mentioned in your post, but it seems reasonable to think that you might have more apps installed on your months-old phone than her days-old phone. The color icons is interesting though since my very limited experience has shown that to be an update in Froyo, and I'd be interested to see if anyone has answers on that.

There are a billion people with iphones bogging down the AT&T network. Every time I get anywhere near a big crowd or sporting event, my Captivate is useless for data and texting. My friend's Sprint and Verizon phones don't even slow down...

Hopefully things get better with 2.2. Right now I am wishing I had switched from AT&T and gotten someone else's Droid...

when i bought my new cpativate, It was snappier as any new android phone. My Bro in law who has Mytouch for a while was surprised to see how fast my phone is.

Cut 2>> after 3 weeks, with loads of apps, music, pics....it got slow, i didnt notice untill i had to order a replacement phone for unrelated problem. The new phone was faster when i compared to the old one. Its definatly the apps and time.

The lag is a hardware issue. Just due to variability in the manufacturing of the phones, some will lag worse or better than others. ALL galaxy s phones will have a lag. This could also probably be because u have more apps installed, so more things running in the background causing more i/o lag.

Although at&t claims to be "faster" verizon has better coverage so that could be the reason for her better 3g speeds.
