Root ALL THINGS COOL EB01 (Mods and Stuff)

its not nearly as smooth as voodoo5 on 2.1...but thats mainly because its just an ext4 version of the stock kernel....jt did ALOT of cleanup on the kernel code and his github was the base for virtually all eclair kernels...once he can work with the kernel source...a voodoo5 custom 2.2 kernel should far surpass performance of a 2.1 (hopefully anyway)

Perfect. Just what I thought. I think i will not go back to stock then. I figured the slight lag in the soft keys was normal because this is all so new.

Browsing is amazingly fast to me (or is that just in my head?)

Precisely. Yeah for the quad lovers they will note that 2.2 voodoo scores less than 2.1 voodoo :eek::eek::p. We need to be thankful that jt was even able to put together any ext4 enhancements at all without kernel source. If you check the info tab on setcpu with jt's voodoo kernel you will see its not the typical jt info the willyzx stuff. It is just the stock zImage info. So yes once they get kernel source we should see a few nice boosts. As well as the re-introduction of OC and UV. nemesis2all and imnuts are both eagerly planning stuff.
It will be nice to see if in fact our .32kernel is more OC friendly as it is suggested by other hummingbirds/SGS' with the .32kernel. So 1.3Ghz even 1.4Ghz might be really a screamer. Even if most will still tell you OC doesnt matter:rolleyes:. By thats another thread:p

Excellent resource and a great thing to come home to :)

So question - EB01 == EB01a? I'm a bit confused by the presence of the 'a' version in some threads...
Yeah I think there was like one line item missing from the orginal EB01 hence the EB01a. When in doubt look for the a when it comes to the rom's but in reality everything being passed around is this so called "a".

I wanna jump to get Voodoo, it would be my voodoo cherry....but yeah exactly what I am thinking I am sure 2.2 will be out soon, he is a ROM machine...its great, but bad when your like me and always want the newest and greatest lol
well voodoo of course is independent of the ROM its part of the kernel. In all truth it takes just minutes to flash on version of SC rom over a pre-existing and wiping is not needed. Im just too busy to do this for virtually no tangible change for me. But by all means flash away till your hearts content. There is no downside other than the few minutes it takes

Is there any way to universally restore all your passwords after a wipe?

What program do you guys use for the benchmarking???
Whatever really they all have short comings. Quad is popular but hugely inaccurate. Linpack is not maximized for our hummingbird cpu. Smart Bench 2010 is decent. Anything based on pi calculations is too. I mean there are so many. GPU Bench, Neocore, Nenamark. I'm probably tried 25 of them and now I have almost none installed. I know what this phone does I dont need a benchmark me to tell me Im better than a DX or Dinc

Is the measurement in Mhz? as in 1484 MHz? (1.4GHz)
No its an average of the 5 tests. So add the cpu, mem, I/O, 2d and 3d and divide by 5.
So in the case of the pic above 1370+1724+3145+294+888=7421 / 5 = 1484.2.
So clearly you can see just how much of those score comes from I/O. Without voodoo the I/o numbers are closer to 700 I believe with the stock froyo zImage/kernel

LOL. That just sounds funny, "He has voodoo and you don't"

So I've seen it everywhere, but what exactly is/does voodoo?
Project Voodoo, Galaxy S improvements | Open Source project homepage what is does is speed up your "writes" so rss readers, web browsing, email and stuff like that should have a marked improvement. Other operations will have little to no improvement what so ever. Overall, its better and faster, some just notice it more than others depending on their usage
