Hi guys,
I have been looking around this forum and been reading everyones posts but no one seems to be having the same problems I'm having.
I got my gtablet for xmas and I love it but lately I have been having some problems:
1) My gtablet does not save the time or date. I am constantly going into the settings to correct this but why isn't it saving?
2) Every website I go to, I get a pop up with a certificate warning. Sometimes I get 3 or 4 of these pop ups at once. And every page I go to witwebsite website I get another Certificate Warning.
3) Now my Kindle app won't sync. This was working fine before.
4) Some times when I click the power button to just shut off the screen it completly powers down without me holding the button down.
5) When looking at websites that have portions of the screen where you have to scroll down to see all the options I can't scroll down. It just moves the whole screen down.

I love my gtablet and it is so handy, but I need help fixing these issues. I have read a lot about people "rooting" their gtabs but I don't know what that means. I understand that this improves a lot of problems, would this help my problems?

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums!

You're gonna wanna start here:

This is the rooting thread. Most if not all of your issues should be fixed with a custom rom

What stock firmware are you on? I thought the newest version fixed at least the time and date bug. Anyways, using any of the custom roms should show you a definite improvement.

Read through the threads and ask any questions you like about the custom rom process on that thread.

What exactly does the custom rom do? I am okay with computers but a lot of these steps sound tricky so I am a little nervous about doing this.
Would I be installing a new rom and starting at step 5 or do I want to start from the beginning?

A custom rom replaces the stock firmware you have. its like replacing the stock desktop. I mean that's a super simplified explanation but essentially that's what it does. Do you have an android cellphone? If you do, then a custom rom can make your gtablet look and act like that minus the cellphone functions.

Step five installs clockwork which is the tool you install in your gtab for you to be able to install a custom rom. To install clockwork, check out post 34 or 35 depending on what method you are going to use.

Actually a clarification would be nice here... I noticed the rooting thing and think I'm quite comfortable with the idea, however I have seen an application called I believe z4root (a rooting tool), does this need to be done before clockworkmod, or is clockworkmod the actual root process, and therefore no need for z4root or similar tool or process, just to clarify... so a clockworkmod'ed g-tab is an actual rooted device or did it need that actual extra process? (And for rooted, I mean granting root access to the sdcard imbedded in the actual g-tab) Thank you in advance!

So wanting my bloody G-Tab to turn up, arrrrggggghhh! I even installed Android Froyo to a flash usb drive and booted my PC from that to have a bit of a play, but limited or no actual file access, so can't install anything. (Just the limitation of the install)

*** Sorry did some searching and read the answer to my root question here... http://androidforums.com/gtablet-al...stall-custom-rom-fix-market-update-flash.html
