Will this phone snap in two?

The phone's form factor and materials would have been selected to withstand a significant amount of force imposed by its day to day sufferings. It's truly amazing what a phone can go through and still live up to it's 2-3 year life cycle.

I've seen cases of shattered screens mainly on iPhone and earlier Samsung phones like my Omnia HD, usually from dropping them on the corner of the screen.

Better to be safe than sorry; I plan on gettin a screen protector, a nice solid but thin plastic phone cover and mobile insurance, lol :)

I don't like phone covers/cases/screen protectors so I have to rely on the quality of the actual phone itself. The phone may be durable as in it will not fully break, but man is it annoying when there's squeaky plastic or bits and pieces falling off. If it feels bad in the hand, it is already enough of a dealbreaker for me. I sold my original SGS because it was a slimefest and my chrome trim was loose. The shape didn't sit well in my hand or feel secure. There are many types of plastic. The cool to the touch matte plastic on my samsung g600 slider feels really great whereas the glossy stuff on these newer phones is just nasty. I'm kind of a germaphobe so that really skews things for me. When I look at videos of a smudged up phone at a tradeshow handled by greasy fingered "journalists" I barf a little inside. :D

lol, you'll need to keep some antibacterial wet wipes in ya pocket just in case.

Yesterday, I was at a food court and set my phone down on the table. When i picked it up, the underside was sticky with some sort of sauce and a bit of rice on the side; I wasn't impressed with myself... looking at the phone now, it still has a good smearing of dry love from the honey lemon sauce or whatever was on the table.. I'm gonna need a wet cloth to get this off.

That's one good thing about shiny plastic phones. They are slick and really easy to clean compared to say, the rubbered ones. Speaking of food, everytime I get fast food and throw away the bag, I get a bit anxious that I might've shoved everything from my phone to my keys and wallet into it without thinking.

dude this phone (and all other galaxy) have gorilla glass! you dont need a screen protector!

That's a lie!!!:p My Samsung Wave with gorilla glass got scratched up pretty conspicuously when it fell out of my pocket while I was in the passenger seat of a car, down the right side, and under the seat. There were no hard or sharp metal edges anywhere, just that plastic carbon stuff and upholstery. It wasn't a fine line scratch, it was a smeared spotchy scratch, the worst kind. Don't trust those online scratch-proof videos. It is only RESISTANT, and that can mean anything.

And no I will still not use a screen protector!

yes it does have gorilla glass, which is scratch RESISTENT not scratch PROOF, something to bear in mind.

Personally i have never worried about snapping my Galaxy S, for a start i'm smart enough to put it in my side pocket so i wont sit on it, and secondly always keep it in a sturdy leather case, something by PDAIR

What about the fats people? I remember watching a news story on my 5 o'clock local news several years ago about the fats people breaking the screens on their iPods with them tight jeans and thunder thighs when they sat down and the thing was in their front pocket and it went crackkkk. Maybe it was a slow news day?

Don't mind me. Just post-ho-ing, as some call it.
