From my understanding, most phones are measured on the phone sitting idle. I think the 3D uses a 1730 mah battery, which means my battery would still outlast the battery from the 3D. Companies are trying to create power sources that will last...meaning battery power. If people cared about hardware in their phones companies would focus more on hardware than big bulky batteries to put in their cell phones.

Idk who made your battery but just because it says 1750 doesn't mean it actually has that much juice, OEM batteries are much more consistent in how much power they have. You're still not factoring in how hardware factors into the drain on the battery, your phone isnt just going to sit around doing nothing al day is it? If it is a smart phone is a waste of money since a dumb phone could do the same thing. And I think the rate technology advances pretty much proves that they're focusing on hardware otherwise the new EVO would be exactly like ours.

Look at the economy and why pay for a 3D phone when you don't have a 3D laptop, 3D TV, or friends with a 3D phone to view the 3D content you send to them? It's great viewing 3D content only you can enjoy...lol

Dude if they released the 3D and called it the Evo 2 and took away the 3rd camera it'd still be one of the best phones available this year. I don't like 3D anything really and I'll probably buy it cause it's badass.

Most people actually plug their EVO into an outlet if they are going to do some major surfing of the net or gaming on their EVO, just like I do to my laptop. No need to even fire up my laptop.

I don't care who will buy the 3D. If HTC/Sprint thinks the 3D will be a hit like the EVO then they are wrong. People won't be lining up for a 3D, just like nobody lined up for the Epic. Its like the government wanting to buy nothing but fancy fighter aircraft, when we already have inexpensive fighters that are not as fast but can still get the job done in combat. Its a waste of money to buy the expensive fighter like it's a waste of money to buy a 3D.

We should do a poll to see how many people that are older and have good careers compared to those who are younger and do not. Pretty sure the people who are younger will turn in the EVO 4G for the 3D. The people who do not own a pot to take a leak in.

My point is though that there will be times when it will be used and that you will have to be running on he battery though. Hell, its the best way for me to waste time usually when Im not home

I hope the 3D isn't as big of a hit, I don't want to wait all day again to get it activated. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I say "On the fence/Undecided" because I want both and will probably get an early upgrade (sell my Evo and just use that money to get the new one or have someone use their upgrade to get it for me) and see how it is OR try it out from a friend or someone who has it and if I like it, I'll buy it/keep it.

It has potential...really, I haven't even tried out the Nintendo 3DSi so I really don't know what to expect. It sounds awesome and if it can really shoot videos and pictures in 3D...it sounds like a keeper. I wonder can you watch YouTube in 3D and upload 3D movies to YouTube so that other Evo 3D owners (or other 3D phones/devices for that matter) can view the videos too. Doubt it, but that'd be awesome.

There are some videos on Youtube you can watch in 3D. You will be able to watch these videos on the EVO 3D.

I want better gaming. The EVO leaves much to be desired in the gaming hardware field. The EVO 3D is great for that. As a device used for surfing the net and playing music, you are right. But that could have been said about plenty of devices that now have successors...

I'm 29 and have a great career as a Corrections Officer. Most of the people I've seen with nice phones (people I know) are people with careers, but that's just people I know. Can you elaborate? I'm interested in your theory.

My theory consisted of this: Younger individuals who do not make alot of cash are more likely to upgrade from the 4G to the 3D. Why do you think the nice phones come out during the summer and thats when the younger crowd is out of school. Also, I'm willing to bet older individuals who have careers are less likely to upgrade their cell phone every year. For example EVO 4G to EVO 3D or upgrading iphones every year.

After the 3D is finished, HTC please give me an EVO that I can use on a CDMA and GSM network. When I travel abroad I can use the crappy GSM network in other countries to make calls in the host country. However, skype did work well on my EVO 4G while in Kyrgyzstan using WiFi. The game changer for the next EVO should have the ability to use GSM or CDMA networks as selling points...not 3D.

Why are people even talking about the EVO 3D having a bigger battery? I had the 1750mah battery for my EVO 4G since the phone launched. Everyone could have purchased a bigger battery like I did. For HTC devices you will typically need a larger battery than what HTC provides with the phone....coming from an HTC Sprint Touch. Purchased a larger battery for that phone, hence I purchased a larger battery for my EVO 4G.

Did you get it for free

The 3D comes with a 1730 mah battery first and foremost. My battery is 1750 mah and its from Seidio, so it works like a charm.

Secondly, this is a thread for the HTC EVO 4G, not the HTC EVO 3D. The moderator should move this thread to the 3D forum.

Third, paying for a battery is like buying a protective cover for the phone. Who cares whether I paid for a battery or not. For someone to talk about the cost of an additional battery makes no sense. My 1750 battery lasted from Kyrgyzstan all the way to the states on one charge in my HTC EVO 4G. Earlymon will tell you I wrote the battery tweaks thread for the HTC EVO 4G which saves people a lot of battery power.

I see your point about summer for sure, and even moreso a lot of older folks just aren't tech savy, so that helps too. At the same time when I'm out and about it's still people in their mid-20s to mid 30s that I see with nice smartphones, but like I said, that could just be me.

Its not about being tech savvy. Its about people not upgrading their phone every single year. Just because people have "nice smartphones" doesn't mean they upgrade every single year or when a new type of their favorite phone comes out.

Then this is your lucky day.

All that you want, plus 3D for those (of us) that also want it.

I'd just like to add, for those who are saying the upgrade isn't big enough, this is a pretty standard upgrade in terms of specs. This is certainly the successor to our EVO 4G. Look at the successor of any other phone; this is actually a bigger leap than most! Whether that is enough for YOU PERSONALLY is for you to decide. Thing is, the phone after this will be the successor of the EVO 3D, not the successor of the 4G.

People upgraded from the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 3GS. Talk about a lame successor, but, everyone upgraded like they were supposed to.

iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3GS: the tale of the tape -- Engadget

412MHz to 600MHz (both ARM 11 CPUs), 7.2Mb/s vs 3.6Mb/s HSDPA (not that you'll ever get 3.6Mb/s on AT&T anyway) and a compass are pretty much the only changes that separate them. The 3GS has better battery life through a better battery you could put in the 3G to round it out.

Yet it sold like hot cakes.

The EVO 3D doubles multiple specs, more so some others, and has a bigger battery with a lower power chip set (the new dual core cpu can dynamically clock each core independently of the other, which also means it can clock both down to next to nothing and only power up what it needs when it needs it, saving tons of battery life vs. the EVO 4G which runs at 1GHz all the time unless you root.)

If you are an anti-3D snob (it's a fad, i can't see the 3D, it gives me headaches, etc. etc.) then just ignore/don't use that and you still get tons of other benefits. Personally, I'm looking forward to having a media device that is both portable and 3D.

The rumor of the day is that the next iPhone is being pushed back from it's normal June release to the fall. Want to speculate? Perhaps it's because it's specs were not much of a bump from the iPhone 4 at all, and HTC just threw down the gauntlet, and Apple are taking the time to throw in some extra features to keep up with HTC. Maybe they're adding 3D too. I'd actually like to see that. Maybe then it'll stop being cool to be hatin' on 3D for no good reason.

Not an apple fan but I read Apple wants to finish knocking out the iphone 4. Meaning, people are still trying to get their hands on an iphone 4 I guess here and in other countries. In order to make more profits, they should complete those orders then roll out the new iphone 5. If not, people will just wait to buy the iphone 5. Apple doesn't want that.
