Release date: 6/24 nationwide; 6/21 for SP members.

They also patent quite a lot of things that don't always come to fruition.

We'll see. I have little doubt that there would eventually be an iPhone with 3D, particularly if the feature becomes very popular with other phones, but there's like 2 or 3 3D phones coming out soon, counting the EVO 3D?

It's still an immature market.

But then again, the manufacturers seem to like dictating what the general consumer will like, but I don't believe the general consumer has yet to buy fully into the 3D hype.

I'm sure it'll only be a matter of time before Apple creates highly effective ads which make the mass consumer believe that 3D is a feature they were missing their entire lives and a must have.

Looks like sensation is releasing on may 17 HTC Sensation up for pre-order at Vodafone UK, delivery promised by May 19th -- Engadget

I can't imagine T-mobile behind that behind. And EVO 3D right after?

Looks like the Sensation just passed through the FCC, so I think you're right about T-Mobile not being far behind.

Really disappointed that we've heard nothing about the 3D yet, and it's certainly looking like the Sensation will be launching before the 3D both abroad and here in the US.

I'd rather nothing happen until after Google I/O at this point, anyway.

Might as well known the horizon - if Ice Cream is far off, fine, but what if it's close?

Who knows?

(And yes, I know it's Ice Cream Sandwich, but I just refuse to call it ICS or with three words. On an Android rev, as far as I'm concerned, 3 shall not be the number of the counting.)

Yeah, Sandwich seems extraneous to me too, since Ice Cream already qualifies as a dessert. Of course, "Ice" would be too short since it's not a dessert.

Why not then call it "Ice Cream With A Cherry On Top With A Side Of Sprinkles?"

And I think ICS is the new OG.

-edit-
couldn't resist more off-topicness:

abbreviating Frozen Yogurt so that it was shorter... FroYo. Now we have "Ice Cream Sandwich." ICS is nice, but not very obvious. Sounds pretty technical. So maybe ICreSan. wow that sounds horrible.

Yep. Speculation I'd heard was that people might be able to tell the difference between a bowl of Froyo and a bowl of Ice Cream on the Google walk of whatever they call the statuary for Android place.

I dunno - seems a bowl of a coupla scoops woulda done the j.o.b. to me.

Or - just put out an ice cream sandwich and call it freaking Ice Cream, fer cryin out loud.

(edit - and I suppose Italian Ice was out of the question due to objections from the Snowcone Naming Consortium at Google - tough job, naming a release, uh huh, really tough.)

I've read zero about HTC going to encrypted bootloaders.

Ton of chicken-little blogs wetting themselves because they just found out HTCs have locked bootloaders (um - yeah, been that way for a while, thanks, blogs).

But encrypted? That would be quite the surprise, to me anyways.

Yeah, i read many blogs that said the thunderbolt had an encrypted bootloader. but when i googled i found it was unlocked.

but most blogs (giz, engadget, brg) are bias towards apple products, so i'm not surprised.

Thunderbolt has a locked and signed bootloader - just like the Evo and many others. Hasn't stopped the root-finders yet. ;)

HTC are focusing on the Sensation which is its new flagship handset going up against the Galaxy S2 and the iPhone.

I guess they don't want to distract potential buyers of that phone by releasing news of another handset further down the line; better to get loads of Sensation sales before telling the world there's another top notch handset on the way later in the year!

The fact is that if it weren't for the Evo 3D I would definitely be eyeing up the Sensation, as it is I'm waiting for news on the Evo 3D before I decide which phone to (potentially) go for when I upgrade later this year.

Well I have no problem with the senstation; it is more of a question of staying with sprint or moving to t-mobile. Of course I also have no problem with the s2. But the nexus has has no sd slot so I won't consider it and this close to the new corp of phone it seems silly to go with the evo; which I rejected in the first place for lousy battery life (if sprint had come out with a keyboard-less galaxy s instead of epic I would have gone with that).

I.e, I would like to pick up something before summer travels begin.

Industry analyst says Sprint HTC EVO 3D will be available in June

Los Angeles industry analyst Paul Mueller, who has contributed a lot to my column, says that the HTC EVO 3D will be available sometime in June, although an exact date has not been determined.

lol glad he backed that statement up with plenty of facts and sources

June is Sprint's big month for years now, so it would be a huge upset for it to be any other time

I'm really hoping we hear something next week (between Google IO and Sprint's band naming...thing on the 11th iirc). There are a lot of devices that aren't exactly popping up out of nowhere, but seem to be all of the sudden shown off, and then are out before you can even grab your wallet (for example, the 4.5in behemoth screened Samsung Infuse 4G for AT&T. Shown off at CES, then again today, and will be out for sale on the 15th.)

I think it's just sour grapes. I'm dying with this TP2, so I'm getting antsy to see when I'll be able to get my hands on a 3D.

Edit: Just to clarify, I think the 3D is a far superior device (from what we know) as compared to the Infuse, I was merely using that example as an example of releasing a date and then a quick turnaround to when the device launches.

Are you stating this as fact or just your opinion?
