Seems like the phone has free wireless tether Out of the Box

please keep us (me!!!!) posted. one of the reasons i switched to android was all these promises on how the phone would evolve with you and so far sprint has neutered the android experience on their phones. (not as much as AT&T tho... im glad i dont own an android on AT&T)

i hope that the tethering isnt a 30day freebie thing.

It may be hard to stop the tethering. There is no Sprint bloat-ware on this device. Remember that the wifi tether on the Epic and other devices comes from Sprint. The one on the Nexus S 4G comes from Google. Sprint had to leave the Firmware alone. It worked for me this afternoon when I activated mine. It could go away or they may stop it, but this is a pure Google phone and it has been built into the OS since the Nexus One. Just my option. BTW the phone rocks and I got 1400 on Quadrent right out of the box!

OK....here it is.

The Nexus S on tmobile has and always has had free tethering.

Nexus S 4g will also. Sprint will never admit it. They will tell you it costs hoping you will sign up but you don't have to.

It is built into gingerbread. This phone is kept up to date by google. The whole point is to have the unadulterated gingerbread and new updates as they come from google.

Other android phones use roms developed by the manufacturer and sprint. In that development they strip out the parts of android they don't like and ad in so called bloatware.

The Nexus S 4g is different. No samsung or sprint adding crap to it.

People love to scare people. Don't believe them. Tether away and enjoy.

My 2 cents.

Don't believe them unless you have a reason to, and as of right now the Nexus S 4G continues to live up what Google wants it to be.

Unless someone has some proof or statement from Sprint stating they are going to alter the Nexus S or anything else related to Nexus S tethering, this sky is falling routine is baseless and pointless and is best ignored.

so has free tethering been confirmed without rooting for Sprints nexus s?

Just to follow up on the chatter, the hotspot is free, and there is no reason for anyone to expect an added increase on their bill as a result. Sprint would not be able to decipher what was used for tethering and what was used for actual internet usage. Also, they would have to have some sort of pop up on your phone to let you know that you will be charged in order for them to expect for it to stick. NO WORRIES.
