Help 3G issues?

So for some reason I am not getting a 3G connection...I have full service bars but only a 1x data connect. This has happened to me before and I wiped caches and data and reflashed velocity and it worked again. This time it tried it and it didntwork. I tried to put it in airplane mode and turn back on and it didn't work. Tired dialin #228 or whatever to check for programming with no luck. Any suggestions would b appreciated.

Might be a internet outage, call Verizon & see. I've had this happen to a tower by where I live twice before.

I talked to other people at work who have verizion and they have a a 3g connection. Its strange cuz it will come on for a sec then I loose allservice then it goes back to 1x..

try *22899. If that doesn't help pull the battery for a minute then put it back in

Tried batt pull already and just tried *22899 no luck eiether...

Yeah i have had that trouble as well. I would have full service and then i would you an app that uses data like speedtest. When i was using it, the connection would cut out. I have no task killers. I use jd but i disabled it and it still happens. I tried the *#*#4636#*#* trick but its worthless. I set it to cdma auto prl.

So after wiping only cache and dalvik cache and reflashing velocity 1.1 for the 3rd time myy 3G data connection works! Thanx 4 the suggestions dautley and bsmalls. Do you guys think this is just a phone issue? Or could it be something else?

I've had the exact same issue while downloading heavy sized files or torrenting for sure does it right off the bat. I don't have or will ever have highspeed where I live so this is all I can get. The 3g icon dissapears lossing highspeed and then it comes back. It alternates on and off when a download is going and while its happening there is no data connection at all. I restarted the phone and did a 228 option 2. I don't know if that coombination fixed it or not but its fine now. It did it with wireless tether running. I also switched to wired tether on an xp machine it seems to shut the connection off all together and makes me restart the phone and app

ah any task killers or memory managers? u using juice defender or any battery saving apps? what rom is your phone running?
