Help Anyone converting movies with Handbrake yet? (or other tools)

I highly doubt that the Evo will play back your Avatar rip in 3D. It's not utilizing the same technology. Also, random comment... It seems a lot of people on this forum think that recording a 3D movie/picture on your Evo and then uploading to your computer, that the image will be 3D on your computer. That's impossible as well.

To put this matter to rest, I just played my Avatar rip in 3D on my EVO. GG

Also, I'm not particularly well versed in these matters so most of what fattank said went over my head, but as far as Handbrake conversion settings go (which I think the OP was asking about), I used this:

How to convert videos and transfer them to the HTC EVO 3D - Know Your Cell

I was rather pleased with the results, even if they might not be the absolute best. If you all have any suggestions or improvements in terms of settings, I would love to hear it :)

i did a 2d to 3d conversion with dvd fab, played side by side. noticed that arm kid is a top and bottom that i have to play launching with astro, tried my 2d to 3d as top and bottom, wouldnt work.

Interesting.

So - are you saying that straight conversion of whatever 3D to 3D works but 2D to 3D only works as SBS?

So this is the tutorial to turn my regular 2D DVDs into watchable 3D movies on the EVO 3D? I know this is a dumb question, but I want clarification on what is needed to do this? Read the tutorial, but it wasn't specific on the type of video files needed.

No no, that tutorial is for converting any sort of 3D movie into a "format" playable by the EVO 3D (it's 3D --> 3D, to clarify).

i decided to give wondershare a try cause im hearing all these good things..

i tried converting a 2d movie to 3d using the presets for the evo 3d in wondershare and it looks like the screen res if off...i left the defaults 960*540...which i though was supposed to be right..

just wondering if anyone else has tried this program and what setting they were using??

I've been trying to convert some videos using Handbrake but non of them come out good. All of them are choppy and blurry (even playing them on the PC). I'm using the same settings from this link:

How to convert videos and transfer them to the HTC EVO 3D - Know Your Cell

Also, I went to Sprint, RS and BB but non of them had a MicroUSB-HDMI cable...The only ones I can online are for the Samsung Galaxy S, is it the same thing?

I haven't had any trouble using the exact settings from that site. Movies look very crisp. I can only see compression artifacts when there's a lot of fast moving, contrasty stuff. 3D looks great, except sometimes the player won't turn on the parallax barrier when I put it in 3D mode. I have to go to 2D and back into 3D for it to work.

Weird...I still can't get it to convert anything properly. I downloaded Freemake Video Converter which is actually really cool, and I've been able to get them to convert fine with this one. One of my DVDs though, Sherlock Holmes, is converting to Spanish every time. Anyone else have movies that convert with a different language? English is the language it is set to but it's converting to Spanish (which isn't even an option, German and French are the alternatives).

Alright, here's another question. I bought The Adjustment Bureau yesterday and it came with a digital copy. I put the digital copy on the SD card but it doesn't show up in the gallery or the Watch apps. I'm assuming its because of some sort of DRM or something, is there an app or something that will play movies like this?

Warner Brothers has their own app, but that only works for their movies.

I can't figure this out for the life of me. I've converted 2 different 3d movies using the settings in the article but when I go to watch the movie on my phone they come out as 2D movies. I've tried switching the 2D/3D switch but that doesn't do a thing. Anyone else having similar experiences or know a work around this?

Need more info. That article requires the source to be side-by-side (SBS) 3D. Are your movies SBS? Easy to find out. Play your source and see if you see the stereo pairs side by side. If not, the procedure in that article is not going to work.

If your source IS SBS, then you just need to make sure you follow the procedure exactly as written. When playing on your phone, the movie will still appear as a SBS image, but once you go to 3D mode, it will work.

Our forum cannot condone posts with information leading to copyright infringement.

Besides being illegal, it's immoral and will depress your family dog when that happens.

Cheers, thanks.

Got it. Sorry. But luckily I dont have any dogs =)

I just picked one up yesterday and i am having some trouble with it.

I have the standard class 4 8gb card in there which was funny because i bought one for my old phone and it was the exact same brand/class/size so i left the one that came with the phone in there. Anyways a class 4 sd card has the minimum read speed of 4MBps or 32768 kilobits/s. My HD 720p movie has a total bit rate (audio + video) of 7643 that means it is using up less than 25% of the read speed limit, which is more than enough to play back especially with a dual core processor, ram and gpu chip integrated in the phone. If this is so why am i experience lag/stutters/missed frames on my phone but my computer plays them back super smooth?

thanks for the help
