I read an article today on how the OS will censor your spoken search into a Google Search.

Try it, say S#$T and watch how it returns ####

Is there a safe search you can turn off to disable this censorship?

I can't think of a more blatant waste of band width than for a smart phone user to speak profanities into their voice search application.

It is a form of censorship for them to attempt to filter out such nonsense, but true censorship would be for them to filter out.. perhaps, "abortion clinics" or "communist party headquarters," which they do not.

I am glad you get to think for me. I should go back and think about what is and what isn't a good use of bandwidth.

Please don't post again.

“We filter potentially offensive or inappropriate results because we want to avoid situations whereby we might misrecognize a spoken query and return profanity when, in fact, the user said something completely innocent,” said Google.

Now you're sounding like a very troubled, immature person.

There are a few of you here, I've noticed; very few, fortunately.

Suggestion: If certain postings and posters trouble you so, feel free to use the "ignore" feature here, that could temporarily calm you as you attempt to make your way around the forums; just keep using that. I'll bet you'll be feeling better in no time at all.

I think this thread is very worthy IMO. Bandwidth is of no concern for the owners of this site, I am sure they would be glad a topic be created in RE: to this question.

I have had this happen to me before, it is unfortunate but I can see google's reasoning. Once it opens the net page you can edit out the ### and plop your term in.

It's their company (Google), they can do as they please. I'm sure they have long, interesting meetings with charts and graphs and demographic data to back up their reasoning for doing as they do.

Meanwhile, in China you can't say, "(fill in the blank)." ;)
