Hi, I have had a HTC Desire HD for about 2 months now, and it has been fine. The only downfall of the phone is the lag. Originally, i had read a forum and learnt that checking USB Debugging in System Preferences fixes most lagging problems. Recently, the lag is getting extremely bad again. Especially when playing music. If i am playing music, the physical memory for the phone is 30MB. I have a manual Task Killer installed on my phone and use that regularly. My songs are all on my SD Card so there is heaps of memory available on the phone. Also, when listening to music, the songs skip about half a second 3 or 4 times every ten seconds.

Does anyone know what could be causing these problems??

Thanks :)

Welcome! :)

I'd uninstall the task killer to start with, they do more harm than good. I know you see them as freeing up memory, but Android is pretty good at managing it's own tasks so if it needs more memory, it will free it of it's own accord. I can provide some links about it if you like?

What SD Card are you using? Just the one that came with the phone?

Thanks, there's an app called OS Monitor or System Panel Lite which will give you a detailed run down of what's using CPU.

Which version of Android are you using? Have you had an OTA update?

You also say the lag is recent, what have you installed recently?

Here are the results in more detail from System Panel Lite:

3G Watchdog: Service, 12.5M
AntiVirus: Service, 14.8M
CSPeopleSyncService: Service, 12.8M
Gmail: Background, 12.5M
HTC Message Uploader: Background, 12.0M
HTC Report Agent: Background, 14.0M
My Uploads: Background, 12.0M
People: Background, 15.4M
Shazam: Service, 12.5M
Sound Set: Service, 12.4M
Status Bar: Foreground, 19.8M
SystemPanelLite: Foreground, 19.3M
Touch Input: Visible, 23.9M

Inactive (cached) Applications:

CelebrityCharts, 11.9M
Facebook, 14.8M
HTC Weather Wallpaper, 12.8M
My Downloads Provider, 12.2M
News, 13.1M
Package Access Helper, 0.0K
Settings, 17.5M

I am on the Latest Firmware which is 2.3.3

I have installed a few applications from the Market but they are all on my SD card. I have even removed the SD card and tested to see if there is any difference but there was no change

Thanks for that, however, all that is memory usage, it'll be something that's eating into the CPU that will be causing the lagginess? Is there anything chomping at the CPU?

Must be a rogue app somewhere, most folk have noticed a definite increase in speed since the 2.3.3 update. Either that or you've a ropey handset :(
