Help use Google Maps

Hello, I'm new in this forum and I would like know how to look for hotels or restaurants in my android app using google maps o google places.

I know Geocoder class, that works very well with places like towns or addresses, but it don't find anything when it searchs hotels or restaurants

Open the Maps app and enter "hotel" or "restaurant" in the search field in the upper left corner. Or you can press the map marker icon to the right of the search field and select a category to search for.

Surely you tried this already and it doesn't work for you? Is your GPS turned on?

Google Maps works perfectly in my phone, but that isn't the problem.

I'm doing a app for android in Java. In this app I need look for hotels,.... who are near of me and it likes my friends, but when I use the class Geocoder to search something I not obtain any results because that app search is not an address. I need use something who allow find the place using its name

Surely you tried this already and it doesn't work for you? Is your GPS turned on?

GPS isn't required just for searching. It does help with accurately pinpointing you but you can search without it.
