My OG Droid was dunked yesterday. :( I don't know if it has survived yet or not; waiting for it to dry out. In the meantime, I'm looking seriously at other phones. I like my OG/with keyboard so much I'm actually attracted to the D3. But if I've waited this long it seems silly to not get a 4G phone. If I had to get one now, it would probably be a Charge, but I would really like to see the Bionic. If my OG doesn't survive, though, I may not be able to wait. Bleh.

I haven't looked at the SGS2...what am I missing?

Right now, I wouldn't say you're missing much because we don't even have a rumored time of release for the SGS2 (Function on Verizon). While the Bionic isn't confirmed as August 4th, at least there are signs from multiple sources. The SGS2 has been out in overseas since the end of April, and there's many videos showing how excellent a phone it will be. But I believe the majority of the people here feel that the Bionic should at least be very comparable in terms of capability, it's just gonna come first. And, like you, many of us are on OG Droids that are limping along to the finish line, and can't afford to wait much longer.

I do hope you placed your phone and battery in a bag of rice. That'll def be the best way to extract water from the device, and will be your Droid's only chance at survival.

My Droid is taking a rice bath at this very moment. I'm praying it pulls through!

One thing that is of concern to me about the Bionic is the qHD screen. Is it true that text won't be as crisp as on an OG Droid?

I used to have the rogue then passed it onto my brother it is still going strong even after being dropped in the toilet(since he didnt have insurance on it but rice did the trick) Quite a nice little phone I think if they made an android on verizon like that with a dual core and a better hinge than the epic that would be a beast of a phone and a huge seller.

I agree...

In fact, my BIL picked up the x2 and wanted bto know if I wanted his original Storm to replace the Rogue till the bionic comes out...

Uhhh...No Thanks...

Eeehhh yes and no.

The qHD resolution is not the cause of the loss of crispness, and is actually really nice.

The main problem is the pentile matrix display that Motorola is using for it's LCD displays. If you go look at the EVO 3D, which has a qHD, for example, it's a different display type, and looks really nice.

But you need to look at the display yourself by looking at the Droid 3 or Droid X2 in person, you may not even noctice.

I paid full price for Droid X to preserve upgrade for LTE Droid phone. I have to wait until 9/21 before I can upgrade and am holding out for Droid Bionic. Have really loved my Droid X in spite of locked bootloader. Hopefully the Bionic will get the same devotion from the development community as the X, so the phone will always be up to date even when Motorola and VZW lag.

Thanks, great advice. I will be heading to a Verizon store soon. I *think* it would probably drive me crazy, but we'll see.

In the meantime, my OG Droid pulled through! After complete immersion! Gotta love my phone.

Long time no see, messenger!

Completely agree. After buying my g/f a Droid Charge, it was the first time my phone felt a lil envious over another's functionality. But the Bionic is def the first phone that has made me say, "I need this!", hence why I'm still nursing my OG. lol

I still surf the site a few times a week ... just don't post much anymore. (I creep on your posts.)

I definitely will be at Verizon's doorstep the day the Bionic is released. My wife's getting my DROID, so it'll still be "around". :) Lately, it's been running extremely well with the CM7 ROM I got in it.

I'm only the 3rd person for "something else/something better"???

Aren't you poor saps tired of waiting for Motorola to drop a crumb of bread from it's mighty table for you to gobble up like a starving dog?

Samsung Galaxy 3D coming by the end of the year? - Phone Arena

So now we have an SGSII in 3D coming out, too.

And the Dinara. Rumor: Motorola Dinara to follow Droid Bionic in late 2011 | Android Atlas - CNET Reviews

And the Samsung Galaxy Q, a possibly FOLDABLE 5.3'' incher. Wondering How You’re Going to Fit Samsung’s 5.3 Inch Galaxy Q in Your Pocket? You Might Be Able to Fold It [Video]

This is making me sick. Screw the Bubonic and SGSII, which sounds like a Stargate series.

I'm going to wait until my Original Droid literally just dies and maybe by then there will be a Droid Hologram phone that can teleport me to anywhere in the world.

Stupid Motorola.

I'm starting to feel the same way. It's almost like is taking over our lives waiting and reading about phones!

My upgrade happens in two days time so I'm anxious for a upgrade. I'm not gonna jump on the first contender out the door, nope, not gonna do it. There are going to be some amazing phones coming out and sure as shooting,I'll jump on the Bionic and a month later some super phone will sprout and I'll be kicking myself for jumping too quick. I also realize I won't be able to keep doing this forever as my little Droid pardner is showing his age and has a hitch in his giddyup. If the Bionic is boot-locked,forget him. If the SGS2 comes minus 4g,forget him too. I'll be looking for another.....and dragging my half dead Droid along....

You know, the first time I had ever got a device as soon as it came out was with my Droid 1. After that, there were others that I could have been jealous of, but when I saw one after another fail or get bad reviews for one reason or another, I just realized I had gotten a really good phone and I stopped paying attention. IF I can make another decision that puts a solid, stable, fast, fluid 4g phone with excellent hardware in my hand, I won't care what the "latest" is. If it's a dud, however...that would be a different story.

I have 3 upgrades to use....I might get the SGS2 then the Bionic and finally the Prime lol...

I'm with ya. I've got two and another one coming at the end of December. I'm thinking of rocking the Bionic until whatever super phone is out then (depending on what I know will be coming in the near future to that date). I like the idea of keeping an upgrade available when need be.

With the VZW release date leaked pic, I'm not so stoked anymore - both SGS@ and Bionic seem ot be releasing 8 Sept, while the Vigor comes out in Oct. and thus far the Prime is slated for Nov.

I was really hoping for a new phone in the next week....

Don't completely rule out a SGS2 Release in August. That map starts in September and mentions nothing of phones coming out this month. So here are some things to help boost your spirits (Purely my objective opinion however!)

1. Motorola said, with much confidence, that the Bionic was going to be the first Dual-Core 4G LTE Device. This either means the Stratosphere is not dual-core, or that leaked map is wrong. (Or Motorola was wrong)

2. The Fascinate was recently retired and the BOGO on DX2's and Droid 3's means SOMETHING has got to be coming out in August.

Best case scenario in my mind? A 3G SGS2 Comes to verizon in August. I know nothing has passed through the FCC, but I still have high hopes. It just seems strange to me that if the Stratosphere was indeed a superphone to compete with the Bionic, why would it release on the same day? Has Verizon historically done anything like that in the past? Seems to me like they don't even release phones that are not competing against each other on the same day (Like Droid X - Droid 2)

I agree that seeing 3G SGS2 in August is possible given Sammy CEO's words, Fascinate retired from stores, that map list starting from September.

But I think Stratosphere is 4G version of SGS2. I don't put any stock in Moto CEO's words. Even if stratosphere is released on the same day or a day after Bionic, he's still technically correct.
