Root Please help!!!

K i keep getting file not found or no such something after I enter the cat command

The recovery image file name probably doesn't match the line you are to copy and paste in the ADB, make sure to rename the file or type extactly the file name in ADB, also make sure to include the .img extension.

mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system

cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image

chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image

mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak

mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system

flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
Read this link for detailed instructions:

EDIT: I noticed you said after the cat command, so your flash_image is not found? Just copy and paste these commands, Linux is case sensitive and all spaces have to be in there!

ok i did it and the only rom i had on my sd was chickeneaters and i did everything and when i tried installin it it said installation aborted cause zip was bad or something..now my phone reboots and it wont go past the metropcs screen :(

I don't know about the chickeneater ROM, but I do know that the Sense ROM is awesome!

Also, make sure to download the file with internet explorer, it sounds like your having a hard time downloading zip files!

Stop with the IE bullshit. If Firefox or Chrome didn't download properly both teams would work around the clock until the issue was fixed.

If you have a crappy internet connection you might want to use a download manager.

I have NEVER used IE to download an Android ROM.

I have always used Firefox myself and never had a problem! But in some other threads a few people were having different file sizes via Google Docs and were instructed to download with Internet Explorer. Lauramishell did mention in one of his post he had to use a different browser to access my Google Docs, so it was just a simple suggestion.

I absolutely agree with you about using some kind of download manager if downloads keep failing. I had to use one a while back when I tethered via DUN.
