Root problems after root

i just rooted a droid 2 with petes version for a droid 3. it was not rooted before the ota gingerbread update. now the problem i am having is when i try to use rom manager it just reboots normally and turns back on. what is with that?
and also is there a way i can go back to froyo from gingerbread?

Did you clear Data, Cache and Dalvik? Try rebooting into recovery and doing so to see if the reboots stop. Otherwise, follow Irv's link to the SBF instructions and start fresh.
