Root [CDMA] Bloatware Removal List

Looking in my /system/app folder, I see so many things i want to delete cause i think their safe but with the number of times ive already bricked my phone. I thought i may as well post up a list and see whats safe.

First off:

[Guide] EVO 3d factory apps and bloat removal! - xda-developers

Thats where i started, but the problem is i have a GSM 3VO and things seem a little different. The other problem is i have HEAVILY modded the stock launcher/lockscreen/messaging app etc. The link above is also very incomplete and outdated.

Ill outline my phone so people know what im running.

I have a GSM HTC EVO 3D, rooted with CWM and the stock 2.3.4 rom. I am using Go launcher as my launcher app, widgetlocker as my lockscreen, handcent for SMS, and powerAMP as my music player.

These matter since they greatly affect what can be removed.

Here are some of the things i want to remove:

Calendar provider.apk (nervous because i do use the stock calendar app)
Skinpicker.apk
Stk.apk
worldclock.apk
com.htc.htcmswidgets3d.apk (I dont use the stock message app but im still nervous)

For that matter im going to stop here and just ask before i make a list a halfmile long. Can i just remove all the HTC widget .apks?

For example:
Htcpowerstripwidget.apk
HTCweather3Dwidget.apk

Because im not using the rosie.apk and i have deleted it i cant add these to my screens so can they be deleted without adverse side effects?

The other major category im nervous about is the idlesscreen_XXX.apks

for example:

idlescreen_photo.apk
idlescreen_weather.apk

I'm sure all the HTC ones could be deleted, as they all depend on rosie.

For everything else, make a NANDroid backup then just rename it from "app_whatever.apk" to "app_whatever.apk.bak" or something like that. See if your phone is ill affected, restore the app if it is, and move on. After a few days of stability, you can delete everything you made a ".bak" file.

Sometimes apps cycle force close when you do this, try a reboot before restoring an app you disabled.

Okay so i found out a few things today.

The downloads app, this includes the UI.apk and providor.apk, cannot be deleted. they will stop android market from working.

Other than that i have like the smallest list of applications installed on my devices. it is crazy how much crap is included with sense.

On that note. Do you guys know how little you actually need on the device if all you want to do is make phone calls and store numbers? Like 10 Apks , a launcher app and thats it. Now thats bloat removal to the max...

Many of those things are also either generic Android apps or slightly modified Android apps, too.

But I hear ya. I'm waiting for Cyanogenmod to be more developed for the phone and then I'm going to switch to it. Sense can be nice, but it is a huge weight on the phone.

I will not switch from stock rom until i am positive the dual core and 3d are working, not to mention the fact that bluetooth still isnt even 100% on some roms.

I will not eliminate functionality from my phone. not to mention im running the GSM version so without the kernel source and more roms, i see no point. I can just mod the hell out of stock gingerbread till my hearts content.
