***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Here is an idea. What if Verizon releases the Droid Prime AKA; SGSII-HD-LTE. within the next six weeks.

Nexus = 16GB
Prime = 32GB

Samsung will have the last laugh...:D

Along those same lines, what if the 12/8 leaks are for the 16 GB version and the 32 GB version is still on track for Monday?

I don't think that is possible, someone else has already jumped on the "prime" trademark, so, I think that is gone.

Now, everyone quit arguing about post count. Steven had to delete posts, which hurts our post count... geez

Wait wait wait...I currently pay $30/month for 2gb of data. Are you saying that I'm going to have to pay more when I get the nexus, even though I don't have LTE in my area?

Someone already answered you, but no, you don't pay extra for LTE.

I did want to make another point though: call customer service now to get your double data! You don't have to renew your contract or upgrade your phone to do it, and we don't know when it's going to end.

Please, oh please, don't start the theorizing over Droid branding for this device. As it is, we know a 32 GB model Galaxy Nexus exists as of the Hong Kong announcement, but according to http://www.google.com/nexus, the only offering is 16GB(US or UK). Obviously the website is wrong, and they're currently in the progress of pulling their head out of their butt. It is the weekend after all, it may not get fixed till Monday.

Welcome to the wait for Nexus. I think they'll release it - just not gonna hold my breath till the end of December.

I just realized; Verizon never said ANYTHING related to a release date, and all these rumors are showing late November/early December, but technically Verizon could wait until next year to release it if they wanted to LOL
They won't, but they technically could.

Contrare my friend - their press release that was put out on a Friday night said 'This Year'

I just brought up the idea because SGSII-HD-LTE has passed though FCC back in October. It was said that the SGSII-HD-LTE was for a Korean release. But that does not mean it will not come here to.:)

OK...

Just had a chat with online CSR. She knew nothing of the GN, release date, or, the end of the DD promo. I expressed that VZW was making it very difficult for me to give them my money. The highlight was this...

I used the term "rental" prior to all of this as well and, apparently they do not care.

So, come Monday, if there is no news, I will very likely be ordering the Rezound to play with until I get my Nexus. The first part of the quoted chat is absolutely true, I do feel unethical about it, but, I am leaving an unlimited data plan with AT&T and the DD Promo is too valuable for me to pass up if it is indeed ending on BF.

(I think I used every possible abbreviation in there... did I miss any BBs?)

What if the GNex doesn't release within the 14 day period? Are you then stuck with "rental" phone? Since there still isn't a solid release date for the GNex, I wouldn't want to buy something else, knowing I want the GNex, and get stuck with the 'something else' if the release date is pushed back.

But you have no proof that this is the case whatsoever, so you're just speculating and assuming that it's actually not Verizon's fault at all.

You are correct... I never said any of that was anything other than speculation.

It is also exactly what everyone else is doing when they say it is Verizon's fault. But you are sure I am the one that is wrong because it is not your opinion right?

EDIT: by the way. Aren't you the one who told everyone that your mom's piano teachers friends dogs babysitter third cousin said the galaxy nexus would be released on the 18th? How is that speculation working out for you. Just sayin.

Do not feel dirty, I bought a Xoom release day, return within 10 days and bought an iPad. Best decision I made all year. 3 weeks later bought a Macbook pro and now typing this on my Macbook Air. Apple makes awesome products. Android tablets are not even close, yet. :D And BTW I am HARDCORE ANDROID. Moved my company from Blackberries to Android and about 2 dozen friends. Without that other company we would have fewer and less competitive choices.

I love my zoom. Typing on it now. I barely use my laptop.. I'd be lost without. :D

Wow! She almost has me convinced to go out and "rent" a Razr or Rezound

Ah, I see everyone's a bit more chill now. I guess I'll retake my seat

/takes seat

So the good news is that my dad used his upgrade, and he shipped me his old Touch Pro2, which is in excellent condition (unlike mine). The bad news is that he upgraded to an iPhone :(

I didn't have the heart to tell him to wait for the Nexus.

But yeah, this wait is going to be so much more bearable for me now that I have a functioning phone! Yay!

[/coolstorybro]

So I feel as if the Droid-Life Nexus roundup (at least the title) was more than a little unfair.
"Only 16GB Version in the US, No Flash Support, Vodafone Still Testing, and No USB Mass Storage"?

All of those are half-truths/straight-up-lies

Anyway, yeah, I'm back ;)

Return period is now 30 days for the holidays.

To be fair if you're doing development it's trivial to use adb to push and pull anything you want from anywhere within the filesystem.

Thanks krohnjw, I didn't know that. I guess what I should've just said is that seeking out MTP apps & libraries and the ability to install and use them is probably way beyond the average non-developer Linux user, especially if they're using a Linux distribution/version for which a precompiled prepackaged version isn't already available. I don't know how cumbersome it is on Macs.

But that all being said, I understand the legitimate technical reasons why they can't offer simultaneous external block-level access to the same filesystem that the OS is running on. Just give us a damn microSD card!

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Did the rep confirm that it'll apply to phones that are activated, too? I know before there was some question about whether it applied to just unactivated phones.

She didn't even know about that promotion until I mentioned it to her, then, she copied the section out of the return policy and pasted it in the chat. So, no, she didn't confirm really.
