Root HELP the Village Idiot...Contacts force closing

"Ok, so I got a little overeager with my root powers. I uninstalled a few things, including Yahoo Contacts and Yahoo! Mail Authenticator. Of course this leads to the contacts app force closing every time. Who would have thought Yahoo was integral to the phone...

But, I'm not completely stupid! I did back up the apps with Titanium before I uninstalled them. However, they won't reinstall. The Titanium window pops up "Restoring App" and just runs indefinitely, never completes."

Found the above post on another thread. This is me. My Atrix 2 is rooted. I have Titanium Backup. It shows two files "lined through":

Yahoo.contacts 2.3.5
Yahoo.Mail.Authenticator 2.3.5

They will not restore, so...

I found a zip file from another (Droid) post that details all the files that are supposed to be in the /system/app/ folder. I put all these files there and set their permissions to "rw-r--r--" in Root Explorer. The only file I cannot find is "/system/app/YahooContacts". This was NOT in the .ZIP file. I only have /system/app/YahooContacts.apk and /system/app/YahooContacts.odex.

ALL of my /system/app files have their permissions set to "rw-r--r--".

Even after reboot, I still cannot access my Contacts. I get the dreaded error "application Contacts Storage (process com.motorola.contacts) has stopped.....

Is there anyone who can list/upload the files in the /system/app folder from their Atrix 2? I must be missing something.

By any chance was the first thing you did with your root powers was make a backup of your system? If so then you could restore that. You'd lose any changes made since the backup, but at least you'd have things working again.

By the way, welcome to the forum.
And where is Lamasco? I've covered quite a bit of ground in Ky, but I've never heard if that.

Wouldn't you need recovery to do that? If not, how would you go about doing that?

Why yes. That was part of my trouble with Titanium--no worky. However, the first thing I did was install Bionic Bootstrap and make a backup. Perhaps I should just suck it up and perform this restore?

BTW, Lamasco is a crossroads south of Eddyville. Home of "The Castle"....

OK. Got brave. Went into Bionic Bootstrapper>restore>advanced> and did a system files only restore. BAM! Problem solved. Lesson learned.....

That was definitely brave! Glad it worked out though.

Eh, I like living dangerously. Thought about this all night. When I rooted using the 1-click exploit, that worked. I don't even recall where I came across the Bionic Bootstrapper program, but I am glad that was the first thing I did. Funny but I don't recall these two programs mentioned together. Someone should make a note! Might save we noobie from a brick.

The Bionic bootstrapper was known to work on the Atrix 2 weeks ago, it just doesn't work 100%. But glad it worked for you in this case.
