Has anyone considered just sticking with 3G? Admittedly, I don't have 4G in my area yet, so I don't know what I'm missing, LOL, but when my phone gets here tomorrow I'll be curious to see if I run into any of these battery issues. When we do get 4g, I'm not sure how eager I'll be to use it. I've never had any complaints with 3g and if it means better battery life...

We don't have 4G where I live, but 35 minutes away they do. My battery life is much better than my Fascinate was on 3G or WiFi. I haven't been in the 4G area enough to compare, but it still does fine with battery. Not as good, but OK. As far as speed, 4G seems faster than what I get over WiFi at home. It spoils me to go down to where there is 4G and then come back here. :D

I don't use my phone to download movies or surf much anyway, so 3G doesn't bother me a lot.

Enjoy your phone. I think you'll like it.

Saw this today on both Phandroid and Droid Life. I tried to see if mine was doing it, and it's still as clear as the day I got it, but going by the comments on both sites you'd think every Rezound was afflicted with this. I tried using my iBeats, my Klipsch S2's, some Sonys (70s style over the ear cans), and the ones that came with my ipod classic. I couldn't hear ANY static, unless it was a live recording with the static already in the recording. Anyone else having this? I also wonder if it's just people who want an out so they can get a Nexus , since I haven't seen one thread on here about it yet.

I don't think it will be an issue. I have 4G on all day (excluding the 7 working hours in the office with wifi), I am still @ 25% after unplugged for 14 hours.

I had originally bought this phone as a "rental" until the Nexus arrived but I am now seriously considering keeping this bad boy and kissing my nexus dreams goodbye.

So far the phone appears to be completely bug free, very snappy with no lag, a wonderful display, and above average battery life. What more could one want?

I will still go in and play with the Nexus when, and if, if arrives to see what it's all about but not so sure it'll deter me from this device.

My phone is having this sound issue. I hear it while using my klipsch s2s. I only seem to notice it while on 4g streaming music and videos.

It also happens while streaming with the HTC Thunderbolt and the Samsung Droid Charge. So, I'm guessing it's a LTE issue. It does not happen with the iPhone4 on 3G.

The reports on the 2 blogs I mentioned are saying that it is happening regardless of data (4G, 3G, or wi-fi) and that it's supposedly a high pitched squeal. Like I said, I haven't seen it, even though they say it happens gradually after about a week. I've had mine since the 16th, and usually listen to music for at least an hour or two a day. So hopefully that means I'm outta the woods. It could also be that they don't realize whether they're on 4G or not, but the ones affected are claiming it doesn't matter what data they're on.

Ok, I've not heard a high pitched squeal. The noise I'm referring to is more of a hiccup while streaming. I don't have the Rezound in my possession but sis has one and confirms this same noise. I hear it with the TB, Charge, but not with iPhone4.

OK, I think my phone is going back.

The only way I can get acceptable battery life is by keeping my phone on Wifi when I'm at home (I work at home so that isn't a huge problem), but for some reason if the screen is off for about 5 to 10 minutes or more it loses the wifi connection and I don't get any updates. I woke up this morning to no weather, no email and no other updates. When I finally got it connected again I had 15 emails and a bunch of other notifications show up. While I don't really need these when I'm asleep I'm not really fond of missing them during the day like I did yesterday. Not sure if I am overlooking a setting somewhere, but I can't have this happen on my phone.

It is a setting somewhere. Saw it discussed on here before. Let me try and find it..

What is your power setting set to? Phone MUST be on performance to sync correctly. Using normal or economy will drop data, not sync, disconnect from wifi, and other issues. For those that don't need data constantly syncing its good for them.

I saw someone said that somewhere and that is what I have been on this whole time. I've been over the phone a dozen times and I just can't see what it might be.

I'm glad someone else said it and I didn't have to..
I got your back
No. Android OS is well capable of discarding least recently used apps to make more RAM available, but there is no way that it can read your mind to decide what particular background apps you want to stop synchronizing with a server or otherwise tying up CPU and I/O resources. Task killers still serve a purpose.
True, as long as you JUST use them to kill a single app here and there, its the people that leave TK running in background constantly, killing way more stuff than is needed that I gear that towards. I personally use systempanel when i need to kill something, which does happen from time to time

menu>settings>wireless>wifi settings>menu>advanced...

sleep settings are in there, default is to go to sleep after 15 minutes, just set that to never and you are good to go

So 4G is fast. At least here. Wouldn't want to ever go down to 3G. Feels slow.

I might return it because the screen on mine gets blazing hot in otterbox case. I've hit 140 degrees.

The only thing im worried about is the nexus signal. The rezound has superior signal IMO.

I don't know I'm only getting like 4mbs down and like 1 up with full bars I'm actually quite underwhelmed with 4G

Where do you live?

I get around 30 down and 9 up..

I live in an area where I see both ends of the spectrum. In some parts of town I get an average of 25 - 28 Mbps down, but in others I only get 4 - 5 Mbps down. Either way it is better than the 12 - 32 Kbps I was getting over 3G on my Fascinate.;)
