Looking to buy a MT

I'm looking to dump my Tmobile and go with a MT. I read a lot of complaints about the phone though. The best deals appear to be on Ebay but I worry about exchanging the phone if I get a bad one. I'm I best to go with Amazon or BB incase I have an issue with the phone? Does Motorola or VM take care of the exchanges?

Yeah sounds about right, ebay usually has best prices, but given how unreliable MTs are, you need a good return policy, Amazon has 30 days return, VM has 30 day return + 1 yr warranty replacement.

Yeah the process is very easy. If you do happen to get a lemon, then calling or emailing VM for a replacement is fast and most of the time pain free.

I had 2 replacements and my third one is the best. Each one was overnighted to my place. And i got to keep my pbone while it arrived at my place! :D

Its a great phone. I actualky switched from Tmo too and im happy about the value that i get for my money. I get good speeds, reception and minutes! Im not happy with an exhibit ii, 100 mins (or 200 for 40$) a month anymore - 4g aint cuttin it enough anymore for the value.compared to when i switched

Enjoy the triumph!!!!

I have a green tint in every picture I take indoors. Thinking of getting a replacement. Did you have to pay for return shipping or did they send a prepaid return shipping label too?

did you take the plastic sticker thing off the camera?

Funny that you ask, the first few pictures I had them on and thought wow, what a crappy camera. Then realized it & took them off and still has it, it's something wrong with the camera module, common for a lot of cell phone cameras (like in my old Acer Liquid, also a 5MP). Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

It's less noticeable in non-artificial indoor lighting.

Where did you buy your MT from Wafflecow? Does VM switch them out regardless of where you buy the phone from?
And Whyzor

I bought my Moto Triumph off Craigslist (had to jump on the deal, was a steal before CyberMon came along at least..)

That one was defective (screen flickr/white screen) and I managed to have that Craigslist one returned back to VM! I thought that was excellent since I didn't even have to pay for anything, it was overnighted, and all I did was send one email before they shipped (I included my address in the request). So yes, free shipping, overnight, (though I think it's "ground" on rare occasion..) and you get to keep your original until the replacement arrives! The replacement does in fact carry a prepaid shipping label pasted to a small bubble package mailer (yes.. what a convenience)

My second MT had a broken MIC straight out the box. What a bad surprise for me I didn't even realize it until the day after..but I did manage to have another replacement sent out the same day. At that time I had three Triumph's (one on the way) because I was lazy to send the original.

This third one is perfect. No issues..

The warranty is from the manufacturer, and lasts one year from the date of the original sale. So even if it were sold to a third party, I believe that warranty is still in place. So like waffle said, if you buy it from another person, you can still return it if there are issues.

So VM will handle replacements (free of charge) no matter who you bought it from up to 1 year? That would be really nice actually. I read someone complaining they have to have an activated phone in order to take advantage of this, I guess they have to have some way to verify it's legit & not just send out new phones to whoever asks.

From everything I have heard, that is how it appears. I do remember seeing someone talk about issues since they activated a backup phone, and had to switch back and forth. So I think you are right, the only caveats are that it be activated, and within the first year of the initial sale. I don't work for VM or anything, and I could be wrong. I have just heard form others that bought it from someone else, that they were able to return it. This might not always be the case. I think the replacements are done through VM, but actually handled by the OEM (the one who actually has the 1yr. warranty). With most other warranties I know of, they will transfer if you sell the item. I assume so in this case, but I haven't read any fine print other than the stuff on VM's page, and might be wrong.

well yeah, you have to send back the defective phone or they lock both phones/account.

Probably because so many MT have problems they've learned to not question things and just send replacements :)

QFT! I bet they have a note for all customer service people that goes like this:

"If someone calls complaining about a Motorola Triumph, have them send it in for replacement. No need wasting time talking them through the usual crap. They probably got a dud! Hopefully they get one that QC actually checked, so we don't keep getting these calls."

lol, I'm kidding, but still they needed better quality control from the start and they would be selling the phone like hotcakes.
