A number of speculations have emerged on the possible release schedule of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime and that this will supposedly be postponed. Earlier reports have indicated that Asus (TPE:2357) supposedly confirmed the release schedule of the tablet and will not be postponed anymore.
However latest reports have raised the possibility that the release schedule of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime will be postponed due to some adjustments that are needed for the Wi-Fi connectivity of the device. The standards set by the company were reportedly not met and the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime will not be released into the market until this particular issue is addressed. This piece of news reportedly came from an unnamed source.

This latest report is supposedly consistent with an earlier report which indicated that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is facing a problem with its Wi-Fi connectivity. Even as Asus has indicated that it will deal with the issue. The solution to this particular issue facing the Asus Eee Pad Transformer was not specified by the company which resulted to questions coming from some industry watchers.
However some observers have indicated that Asus reportedly confirmed that the device will still be released according to schedule on December 19. This was reportedly indicated by Asus following inquiries about the issue and its effect on the release schedule of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime.
This confirmation has shown that the company is steadfast in releasing the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime according to its schedule. Asus is reportedly unyielding with the release schedule of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime on December 19. This comes as Aus is reportedly aiming to release a perfect device into the market.
However some observers have speculated on the possibility that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime will not be introduced into the market during the set date of release although this remains to be seen.

No its not? He is pointing to the occurance a week ago and now saying it appears to be true after all.

I'm with Cobravision on this; the article is written in such general language as to be nearly meaningless, and I definitely wouldn't trust "unnamed sources," unless quoted by Woodward and Bernstein.

That being said, I've little faith at this point that many people are going to receive the tablet tomorrow. I've no idea who or what is to blame for the slipperiness of the release date, but ASUS hasn't handled the situation well. I'd much rather have an official statement from ASUS saying that the tablet is delayed until January rather than the guessing game they're making us play. It's simply unprofessional.

Anandtech just posted a follow-up review that there have been problems with the wifi and they are skeptical it is just the samples sent to them. They got a third unit that does not have the issue, which turned out to be one of the antennas was not working (Prime has two).

The killer though is the wifi range. Since Asus went with all aluminum, the range is considerably weaker than the Transformer. Anandtech explains why.

The Acer 500 also was the same body design and also had weak wifi (the worst of any device I owned). I returned the Acer and got the Thrive, which has much better range. Wifi range matters to me. If wimpy like the 500, I will not bother with the Prime. Hopefully they will correct this in future production runs and add a plastic window for the wifi reception.

They are probably gambling and hoping the batches for retail do not have the defective antenna like the two units Anandtech got and the one Cnet got. Anandtech's third unit is finally the charm. Anandtech is skeptical the issue is just for the ones they got.

Well, I think there is enough info floating around to give the WiFi issue credence, now let's just hope Asus did not gamble and hope (1) these first batches are wifi issue free and (2) people - the larger masses - wont know about the reported bug and accept what they get. The good thing about being a member here is we are informed so that takes care of #2. And, I will not accept #1 since I know about it and would return if it is obvious I have a defective unit. WiFi is critical here, bad wifi makes the whole product a no go.

Since I'll mostly be using WiFi in my house and my wireless router is in the same room (and centrally located in my house) where I usually mess with my toys I really don't need all that much range anyway. Now if we're talking 2 feet or something like that then ya but if I can get 200 feet or more I'm happy. That will reach all corners of my house easily.

come on? so you would settle for a known hamstrung device just because you don't need wifi distance in your home? not me. what about when you travel? I expect good standard wifi distance or mine goes back.

My Asus eee pc 1018p is brushed aluminum and it has a plastic part across the top of the screen backing for the antennas...didn't see that on the back O the prime.

Everything is relative, since the Charge has one of the weaker radios of current phones. G Nexus is weak too.

Best to test yourself and if happy, cool!

If not, it will not get better, unless a hole is cut in the back.

There are a few wifi range apps you can use. The key though is if you are not having issues in the wifi coverage you use, nothing to worry about. In my case, the A500 could not maintain a signal where my other devices had no problem.

Anandtech pretty much confirms the wifi is weaker than the Trans 1, so the issue is how much weaker?
