Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

With all due respect, why do people use the Phandroid app? The only reason I used it on my OG Droid was because the browser was so terrible, but on the Nexus, it's fantastic. I just open up the full pages. IIRC, the Phandroid app has FCs on ICS, and can't even post links, right?

It's just a lot simpler. No worry about zooming it's just there, in a simple format, easy to reply and swipe through. The browser is excellent I agree, but tapatalk and mobile sites are popular for a reason :)

LOL, I just checked my battery stats and it is as follows:

Android OS - 38%
Screen - 37%
Phone Idle - 8%
Cell Standby - 8%

Checked Cell Standby and it says it has spent 84% of the time without signal, lol. Typical coverage that my phones have to deal with here at work.

Wow now that will kill a battery (time w/o signal)

That is quite a drain BB's.

What does your "cell standby" say? Is it all yellow where the signal is or you have a lot of green? I see you have good bars

I have lots of green.

That phandroid app is eating your battery alive BB. Your screen is at 34% and your Phandroid app is at 31%. You say your screen has been on for 53 minutes. Your Phandroid app is eating just as much juice as your screen, so by equating the two percentages of use, you can say you've effectively left your screen on for 2 hours. Quite a drain indeed.

I check it more often than I should. Lol. I seriously hope that the app gets a much needed update soon. The powers that be are aware of the battery and CPU issues. They just don't have a release ready yet and the beta has a whole other slew of issues.

I use the app cause its convenient. You can post links. FCs happen on GB too.
I might try the browser this afternoon and see if that helps battery at all.

When you say "with all due respect" you can say whatever you want. It's in the Geneva Convention.

IMO the app is better... I use it on my Galaxy Tab 7 too

More convenient than a bookmark? I'm sorry, I'm really not trying to sound like a jerk here, I'm just trying to understand the logic.

My friend...if you ever get to the point where you understand female logic, please let me know. I'm an electrical engineer that specializes in control systems, logic, and programming...however, the logic that females use baffles me and I have yet to crack the coding system God used when he created them.

You dont sound like a jerk. At least not to me. Even with the bookmark i have to zoom in on the screen and then find my last read post, the app remembers that for me and is sized to fit on the screen. And i dont type in landscape so the screen isnt great in the browser for me.

You mean "auto-fit"? You must have eagles eyes then because I can't read this site unless I double tap it to zoom in lol. OR....I'm getting old which kinda sux :p

I actually read most sites fine without zooming also. It's a bit of a strain, but not bad. Doing it does make me wish we had either more resolution or a nonpentile screen though as the font is still not quite as sharp as it needs to be for such small font to read real easy.

Yeah it is site dependent I agree. This one here is tough on my eyes though. I don't have glasses, maybe I should consider :p

I assume you're doing this in landscape correct? That is one thing I think I'm in the minority in. I prefer portrait for browsing as a lot more info is on the screen per usual forum format layouts. I've even turned one of my widescreen monitors to portrait to view forums! :D

The only time my phone is in landscape is when I'm using it for videos.
