Another one bites the dust

Well after three weeks with my replacement MT (I had to return the first due to the front camera not working), I awoke today to find that it would not turn on.

It's been perfect since I got it, but I've pulled the battery multiple times and tried to power it on, with absolutely nothing happening. Plugging it in to a charger also gives no response. It was fine last night.

I think it's dead Jim :(

vmusocialcare@sprint.com here we come!

(Edit) Reply from VM is that they will not give me a band new replacement, only a "replacement handset that is refurbished".

I bought my original MT 28 days days ago (11/23).

I asked for details on this "policy" and why it was somehow managed to be waived the first time they sent me a replacement (I received a second new Triumph then) but they were insistent there was nothing I could do, other than accept what they were offering.

As I said to them, hopefully this third time will be a charm.

Well their policy is that you get refurbished replacements. Not liking that doesn't change the policy.

It would be nice if all the replacements were new, but it is something they don't even have to offer. I would be glad they gave a new one when they didn't have to as it is a free service they provide . Most carriers I have dealt with in the past make you pay for insurance or you are sol if there is a problem. As long as they stick to the policy they set up there isn't much you can do as far as I know.

(sorry if any of this sounds harsh, I am just trying to be honest about how I understand it. Please refute my statements if you find I am mistaken.) :)

They seem to be able to waive it whenever they feel like it, since I was told I would receive a brand new replacement when my front camera didn't work.

They have overnighted me the replacement and it will be here tomorrow, which is something. Fingers crossed for round three.

The particularly infuriating thing is that the phone itself is great, if you can get a working one. I had no issues with this second one until it refused my orders to turn on yesterday :(

It doesn't state new or refurbished. I was only stating that as far as I know they don't have to replace your phone with a new one. They can if they want, but they are in no way obligated to do so. If anyone can find a more detailed explanation of their return policy that specifies better then that would be great if they posted it here.

@marc12868 - The other carriers I have used have made me get insurance to be able to replace my phone. They did not replace it for free. This may not be true for every one of them (or even most).

Wait so what is there $5 a month insurance plan for? Is that to actually get a new one no matter what?

Received my replacement Triumph today, it is unfortunately a reconditioned unit with a manufacture date of 7/11 under the battery.

So far I've noticed no issues, although it has a terrible screen protector on it. Someone has cut a protector in half and applied both parts seemingly while jumping on a trampoline because they look bad and create a massive seam down the centre of the screen where they overlap.

No hardware issues that I can tell, and I was able to restore a Nandroid backup through CWM from two weeks ago without issue.

I hope this one lasts longer than the first two.

This is why the Best Buy, $45, 2yr, replacement plan is so awesome. I purchased my original MT the first week it was available. It had a bad mic and so I returned it to BB two weeks later. They gave me a brand-new, sealed MT there and then. Supposedly the replacement plan should keep me in this kind of service for the next two years.
I think its money well spent.
