Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Am I the only one that has NOT put my phone under a microscope and gone through everything with a fine toothed comb? Seems there is nothing but complaints about the nexus aside from the peeps here in this thread. I have not gone through my phone to find issues or problems. I just use it :)

EDIT: not to say some users don't have legitimate issues :)

Anyway my extended battery came in this morning which is a surprise considering the 6-8" of snow we got over night. I tried to use the stock cover but it stuck out on one side a bit so i used the one that came with the new battery. Kind of changed the feel of the phone a bit, nothing bad kind of fills my hand better. Its on the charger. Figured while the battery was half off I might as well get one :D
Well, it tends to be that people that are satisfied don't say anything, it's the ones that are not satisfied that feel the need to complain. :p There are a few legitimate issues, but considering that Nexus phones are developer phones and basically expected to be a very late beta, the amount of noise some people have made is a little excessive IMO. Anyway, glad you like the extended battery - I used the new door, and it still fits in my Diztronic case perfectly, so I'm a happy camper. :D

Hey NC, how'd it go downloading Zumocast? Did you get everything set up?

Thanks Razor for asking. I got the .apk installed on my phone with no problem, but I've got to get home to install the application on my computer. I hate when work gets in the way of real life!

Again, thanks for answering my q's about the downloading. It gets so frustrating when there are 10 "download" buttons, but really only one for the actual program download...lol.

Yeah, very disappointing. A friend of mine wants to get the D4, and I kept telling her "Thursday, Thursday," then had to tell her today it was pushed back. :(

Yep. The Droid-Life renders have me speculating it is undergoing a redesign. They may just be very outdated renders also, but the second set of renders look like a thicker device that could have a removable battery and the sliding display frame is more squared off which would allow for a more minimized bezel and larger display. This is as much wishful thinking as anything as even though I really like my Nexus I will NEVER get used to 100% touch screen typing and will always long for an equivalent device with good keyboard. I am open to a much thicker and heavier device to get the keyboard even. Problem is that I am in the minority. I just wonder if most people like me would mostly rather have a fully premium device rather than the watered down and more "value" priced devices that are the sort that usually get keyboards?? If this is the case, most of us would probably pay a bit more to have the keyboard even and we really aren't seeing the full sales potential of such devices until such a device exists again. The OG Droid did EXTREMELY well and may have done so on these aspects more than they are assuming as it was really the most premium for it's time keyboarded phone of the touch smartphone era.

Yeah, I definitely hear you. Obviously those sites have to make ad revenue somehow, but it can definitely be confusing. Anyway, glad you got it all worked out!

Been busy for a bit, but this is my latest homescreen.

Running Droidtheory's 4.0.3, ADW launcher. Red soft key mod.

It looks nice and reports much stability. Let me know how you like it.

It's pretty good. Very stable as far as I can tell. The only lag I get is when I set the microbes live wallpaper. It doesn't lag with other live wallpapers, though.

He also threw in a cool "black hole" live wallpaper.

Really? Is there a setting for it somewhere or is it just standard there?

You've talked some about universal HD rom in the past... do you mean or have you meant revolution HD?

No, it's the Droidtheory one. Had a power widget in the drop down, and it disappeared. I asked about it on his thread at Rootzwiki, but he hasn't responded yet. The power widget is definitely there in one of the screenies on the OP, too.

Very Sad -

I just figured out what has been causing the weird metallic taste. Its Mountain Dew in a can. I hope its just the cans causing it. I don't drink soda often (been bad lately) but I love Mountain Dew and would be sad to not drink it anymore

Stop drinking out of aluminum cans! They've been shown to have some relation to onset of Alzheimer's later.

It comes in plastic bottles also you know!

I know. But the machine at work has the cans. Its better for me to not drink it at all so this could be a blessing in disguise.

You change your phone roms and wallpapers more often than most people change their underwear!! :D

Point noted. Thanks

Anyone having any luck finding a movie player that plays MKV files.

I've tried a number of them and Dice Player Trial seems to be the only one that plays both video and sound.

Other players would just play the video.

So far, MX Video Player is my favorite that works nice on ICS. You issues with sound are more than likely related to hardware vs software rendering of the sound. Depending on the codec for sound used in the MKV it may or may not play through the hardware sound renders. Sound should always work through a software render, but what can happen is if the player is using hardware for video and software for sound it's easier for sync issues to arrive. MX Player though has the HW/SW(hardware/software) rendering option built right onto the player ui so you can toggle them on the fly and does allow you to play video with hardware and audio with software to save battery and such. As far as I can gather audio and video sync ok in this mixed mode until you try to fast forward, and then all bets are off.

MX is also one that will do TRUE fullscreen on ICS. Not sure if Dice is updated to do that?
