High profile h.264 support?

One of my major beefs with my galaxy tab 8.9 and other tegra 2 devices is that they cannot play the videos that I encode in high profile h.264 even though my HTC evo can play it just fine. Can anyone confirm that this problem had been fixed on tegra 3 devices? For reference,I use freemake to encode my videos in h.264

I've been using handbrake to encode my videos off my canon high Def camcorder.They look great!

Im not sure about all the variables such as bitrate, constant or variable.. but the same videos I encoded with handbrake using high profile that would not play on my Xoom, play excellent on the Prime. Even my .mkv files are like silk and that is without hardware acceleration.

If you have a short sample video you would like me to try just hit me up and I will test it for you.

High profile no problem - my youtube channel will have a video up shortly in relation to video playback. 11mb/s 1080p MKV with DTS audio playing perfectly though (as it does on my SGSII and Galaxy Note also), should be able to handle up to 15-20mb/s like the Note I would think.

What seems to be the best quality format that you can stream over wireless-n?

I can stream a h.264 4000 mb/s mp4 at 1280x800 (stereo) but if I try to play a 1080p h.264 at 9000 mb/s, stereo has some stutters, 5.1 aac is slow motion. (Using BSplayer and hardware acceleration)

I would like to be able to output 1080p with 5.1 audio through the HDMI... Would converting to mkv help?

Thanks a lot NZtechfreak. BTW, I checked out your youtube channel. EXCELLENT videos. I really liked them. And thanks for the response. I used to use Handbrake but Freemake is a LOT simpler and streamlines the type of encoding I want, 1-to-1 conversion. Exact same quality, resolution, bitrate, all that stuff, just in a different codec. But the only h.264 profile it uses is high profile which tegra 2 devices can't use. So if I want to play the videos on my Tab 8.9 I need to reencode them in mpeg-4. Considering I'm going to be getting the 7" Transformer Prime when it comes out, I'm not too concerned since the 8.9 will be handed down to my wife who doesn't really watch videos on it. It'll be nice when I can just use freemake to put everything in H.264 and have it play without issues.
