Update (Aug 18 2012 5:43pm EST; Changed link to ZippyShare)

If you need the below files that were offered on the ZTE website to update/restore your phone I've rar'd and uploaded the below two files(exe and pdf) to ZippyShare.

As of Dec 26 2011 this method is confirmed working as per the thread
"Tips B08 update for rooted users."

Remember to backup if you still have the capability prior to using this method as it will wipe your data and apps. And restore afterward.

Zippyshare.com - ZTE_Online_Upgrade_Tool.rar < rar'd exe and pdf, no password req'd

If for some reason the rar archive disappears from ZippyShare feel free to PM me and I'll re-up ASAP.

Update (Dec 25 2011 5:30am EST)

Boost themselves are now offering via an OTA update a non-destructive(meaning no backup prior and restore afterward req'd, your apps and data are kept intact) firmware update to the as of this moment current
N860V1.0.0B08 firmware

To begin the OTA firmware update procedure:
Menu > Settings > About phone > System updates > Update Firmware

It will take under 10mins with a good 3G signal, start to finish.

Not sure if this might belong here but I'll post it in the hopes it might be of help to someone.

Go to:
ZTEUSA.COM > Home > Support

Then click on the "Software" tab.

Under the Software tab you'll find:
Code:
Boost Mobile Warp Online Upgrade Tool.exe (13MB)
Boost Mobile Online Upgrade Tool Introduction.pdf (1.30MB)
note: I purposely did not link the above two items, the exe and pdf, fearing should their target(s) get reassigned to an incorrect and/or otherwise harmful executable.

I"m glad ths was posted because I like customizing my phone and some of the root apps can be dangerous in the wrong hands (like mine). It's nice to have a safety net until we get a custom recovery for this phone. Just be aware that after using it to wipe your phone that you will need your MSL number to reactivate your phone by dialing ##72786# and that you will obviously lose root. Worst case senario, call boost and they will hold your hand through reactivating.

This is a great find. Working as a poorly-coordinated team, Google Music, Titanium Backup and I managed to screw up the rights and permissions for music.apk, which is actually pretty critical in that it supplies media browsing and selection services for pretty much anything that looks at the sd card. With a lot of effort, I've gotten it halfway working, but I've concluded I need to reinstall the factory software and start fresh, and was wondering how I was going to do that...

This is how I updated to B08. I backed up all the apps & data onto my SD card. Then switched to a dummy SD card (I took from an old phone) and ran the update. Then I put my original card back in...rerooted my phone and used Titanium back to restore everything back to normal. WAA LAA!!

You're right, it's not difficult if you can go without your phone for an hour. I just backed everything up with Titanium, did the B08 update, re-rooted and restored from Titanium. Not a big deal. Would have been a lot faster if the ZTE update tool didn't take 30 minutes to download the update file.

So far, B08 seems more stable. I think by the time we get to B12 or B14 things will be pretty good...
