Does anyone feel that they are on old technology with the Rezound?

Does anyone feel that they are on old technology with the Rezound? I feel like the Galaxy Nexus is the new thing with ICS and the SuperAmoled HD display, as well other things such as NFC and beam. I feel like with the Rezound we are on old technology with the fastest parts and it feels as if I'm missing those new features the Galaxy Nexus has.

Does anyone else feel this way? Are we on old technology or do you think think tech is up to part and will last for a while?

This is the best phone I've had. Its fast, smooth, and no hiccups. The camera is awesome and the battery life is manageable. GPS locks on great and everything works flawlessly. I don't understand why they only hyped Beats.

Take a look in their forums! The only positive they have is ics and i will gladly let them be the guinea pigs for the experience this phone gives me.

Ok please don't that this the wrong way sdsubasketball but I have to tell you that reading all of your post I am left with two things in my mind. Either A.) You are someone from the Gnex forums that came here in hopes of starting trouble or discouraging people from the ReZound(which I am not favoring because I tend to give people the benifit of a doubt) or B.) You should probably give the Gnex another try. It's seriously looking like the ReZound just may not be for you. You just don't seem happy with it whether it performs well for you or not. All you really talk about in your post are do people miss this or that from the Gnex, or do you feel the ReZound is out dated, or what do people not like about their ReZounds, etc, etc. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you and I'm not an HTC fanboy(although I am extremely pleased with my ReZound). It just seems like you are having the grass is greener syndrome and from your post I doubt it will go away until you find out for yourself. Maybe you just got a bad unit last time. Maybe this time the Gnex will work out for you. Again, not trying to make you feel unwelcome just letting you know what probably seems obvious to the people reading your post but not so much to you. It can be hard to see some things from inside the bubble. Whatever you decide to do I wish you luck and happiness.

Oh Goodness No......not at all........but it is all about personal preferences.....

I am partial to HTC phones primary due to the build quality - perhaps only an I - Phone feels better ( or at least as substantial ) in the hand.....Samsung phones to me have always felt too fragile and to much brittle like plastic.

Amoled screens are loved by many for the brilliant colors....not for me.......they in my view are too colorful - almost unrealistic looking and the pixel count on this HD screen is the highest in the business - I have never viewed a screen this precise.

This processor is at least in the top three available and has been silky smooth......having a GB of RAM doesn't hurt. The Beats are some really nice headphones ..... not old technology and I am not aware of any phone that comes with ear buds this good.......say what you will but the Beats chip-set is pretty good too......sure I can surpass it quickly using a decent equalizer but why the Rezound was seemingly only marketed on this point is odd.

Camera quality is quite good - phone quality is good - and I am not aware of a more blazing fast 4 G than Verizon's LTE - remember 4 G just stands for fourth generation - not all 4 G networks are using the same technology.....and this phone has a well documented ability to hold onto a 4 G signal......the 4 G speed of this phone alone just blows me away.

I havve friends who would say all the same things about their phones - that's why it is all so much fun.......I can't wait for ICS on the Rezound. I think this will be a standard settting phone for Verizon and is the sleeper of the three new 4 G's :)

Ok and that's cool. As I said I don't mean anything bad towards him. I don't hate on people because of their choices or preference of phone. But in the very post you linked he says... "There is a chance I might end up returning for the Galaxy Nexus because I feel like I'm missing the SuperAmoled HD screen" which is exactly what I meant in the B part of my post. It comes off like he really wanted the Gnex but because of all the issues the Gnex had he "settled" for the ReZound.(not saying that's what happened just how it reads) Believe it or not I'm writting this post to try to potentially help sdsubasketball be happy with his smartphone since it doesn't seem like he is at the moment. Perhaps I'm wrong.

?

I had the nexus and deff dont miss it,lol. Only thing I liked bout ICS was the improved method of seeing what you were doing(pic showed exactly the last thing you were doing in that app..sry if that doesnt make sense, idk what to call it lols)...didnt dig the new widgets place...btw ICS is coming to the rezound
Screen wise on the nexus was shotty...I usually use a dim screen and it looked horrible...lines going through it n stuff...screen on the rezound is better IMO.
NFC seems cool, though IDK its a bit icky right now...only thing I liked about it was the free mou-la I got from google from signing up lol...plus I had to remove the cell phone case to get it to work at CVS...however it did give me points with the hotty behind the counter...she actually took my phone n started going through it haha..giggles when she saw a certain app :p
I guess beam could be entertaining though for me ...eh. I'm pretty sure theres an app that does the same thing basically...I remember a friend showed bumping phones would exchange whatever...that was like 2 years ago on her HTC Eris...lols big dillio

adios!

Yep.. I must say.. The rezound is flat out awesome.. Not sure what else I could want from a phone. It does everything and does it rather well. I had the GNex for 1 week and the reception was soooo horrid, I had to return it. I could barely hear the Speaker phone! There was an app I bought to make the sound louder. It made it loud and DISTORTED. I must admit, I was really impressed with ICS. I was impressed with how well everything worked, and how clean it was. It is THE ONLY thing I miss from the GNex.. I waited 3 weeks for that phone to be released.. I wouldn't change a thing tho. I would have hated to have gotten the Rezound, returned it for the GNex, and been stuck with that phone for 2 years...

I see where people are talking about the Dev Support for the Nexus. There are 18 roms out for it.. Not trying to knock anyones hard work, but they are all basically the same. A different clock here, a battery display here, this one with a kernel, this one with Set CPU, this one uses anTuTu... We have a nice selection of Roms with each bringing a different aspect to the phone. I don't think I've ever been on a Rom (Windows Phones, Blackberrys, OG Droid, Droid X) where Everything has worked as well as this Ineffabilis Rom I'm on is. I've not had 1 problem.. None... Anyways, sorry to rant. We have Root, we have a great piece of hardware, we have awesome Dev Support.

Good luck with whatever your decision is. I think you'll see more and more users flock to the Rezound. The 15th of January is quickly approaching..

Old tech? Really? NFC is the only new tech this phone is lacking and frankly I'm glad. Don't like the idea of having my personal info floating around my phone in a digital cloud.

ICS is just an upgrade to our OS which will come to our phone soon enough.

LCD's are old tech but these Sony super LCD's are not any older than s-amoled pentile screens. Samsung supplied the screens for HTC before and couldn't keep up with production, I think that's party of the reason we got LCD.

I don't know why people keep tooting the nexus horn. They explain away all the problems and lack luster specs. Then brag about getting all the latest software updates first when from reading these forums most people done even hang on to a single device more than six months. How many updates do they expect in six months? All the top tier super phones are only king for a month or two before the next big thing hits.

Ask yourself, are you happy with the rezound? If not, then get what you like but you'll be replacing it in six months to a year anyway.

the only positive according to who? that is purely personal opinion.

I had the ReZound and I know have the GNex. They both have their lil issues but they're both GREAT phones in their own way.

You pay a price in any tech when you decide to be the user/guinea pig of the new ways.

That being said.

Op in my opinion i think the ReZound is a great device. I in know way think it is old Tech. I'm not going to get into comparing what this phone has and what that phone doesn't. I just think they're both great phones in their own way.

Ok, the Nexus has NFC, WOW! Besides that which is pretty useless at the moment, what can the Nexus do that the Rezound can't do better. ICS is so overrated. I can't wait until the Rezound has ICS and we get the same features, then the GNEX forums will be filling up with even more people saying how "they should of a got a Rezound". If you watch the reviews online, the video reviews, the only reason why some reviews are picking the Nexus is because there on Googles tit and they also are obsessed with ICS and think it's the second coming of Jesus.

OP, this is a bizarre question. You've been peppering the Nexus forums with questions about whether and when the signal and volume and camera problems will be fixed, and now you're worried about some imagined obsolescence of the Rezound, which has none of those problems and includes one of the fastest CPUs, sharpest displays, best radios, and best cameras of any shipping Android phone.

The bottom line is yes, this phone will be obsolete in six months when the quad-core 2GB zillion megapixel phones come out. Such is the path of high tech. And if SAMOLED screen is the most important factor for you, by all means trade the Rezound in for a phone that will make you happy! :)

Sorry if my thread bothers anyone. Ive been indecisive and discontent but I need to make a decision soon. Ive been wanting the nexus for a while but after hearing about the problems I decided to go with the rezound having better data reception and camera quality.

I need to find a way to be content with the phone for a while.

If it bores you unlock it , root it, and play with some roms. Better yet just own both. When one ticks you off or bores you go play with the other.

Odds are in 2 months when the newer better tech comes out you will be as confused as you are now. As I and others have said on other threads you have made up your mind, just jump!

You know I'm new to the smartphone "Thing" and at first I kind of felt the same way. I felt the Rezound was a little thick after holding the Razr and knew it wouldn't have ICS like the Nexus.

So I got the Rezound with the possibility to trade for the Nexus once it came out. I had already liked the performance of the Rezound better than the Razr and when the Nexus came out I felt it didn't live up to the hype! NOT EVEN CLOSE. Playing with the Nexus didn't make my phone feel inferior at ALL. I've only recently became a phone geek, but after reading up and comparing the phones the Rezound stands Toe to Toe IMO.

The only thing I could have wished for? Still would have liked the Reaound to have been thinner or it's current thickness with an EXTENDED battery. Because my 2nd gripe is the battery life. I'm still learning how to manage it, but internet, GPS, etc...REALLY gobble up the juice!

In the Rezound's defense, to some extent ALL the phones are that way. Some better than others but if you're a power user it's just something you have to live with. This generation of phones seems to be the first where you can truly multitask and that takes some power. Give it a year or two for battery life to catch up I say. In the meantime get a great car charger, make sure any GPS docks are allowing the phone to charge full tilt safely (We have a modification thread for ours to do this) and whenever you're near an outlet/computer charge that baby up!

Coming from always having a prepaid phone, the Android phone selection can overwhelm anyone, knowing i can only be a new Verizon customer once,i did plenty of research on this and other Android forums, and could not see any other phone getting the positive reviews the Rezound was getting,i am not new to smartphones,i had the Blackberry cure and lg Optimus V,on Virgin mobile, but both seemed like to much work to get them to work properly,so i bit the bullet knowing that a contract would add a larger bill,so far i am happy i got the Rezound and Verizon service, thanks to these forums, because without them i would still be in the dark over getting the Rezound ,Razr,or Galaxy,
