Hello. I'm a new member and technology challenged anyway, so please bear with me. I just got an android huawei. I downloaded a program to my computer that I need to install on my phone. I unzipped it and transferred the files (some of which I had to convert from .jar to .apk) to my SD card using the USB cable to my computer and also by using the awesome drop app. I am able to locate the files, but when I try to open them, I get an error message that says, "Parse error: There is a problem parsing the package." I contacted the company who designed the initial program and they told me I needed to change a few settings in my phone and the application would then open. I have no idea what settings I need to change and neither do they since their program can be installed onto so many different types of phones. Going by some of the posts to this forum it looks like people have said the files themselves may be corrupt. Does anyone have any suggestions for me??? I truly appreciate the help!

Jar to apk conversions aren't uncommon if they included the right extra stuff.

On Android, go to your settings by tapping menu from the homescreen and choose Applications from there. Look for a checkbox allowing you to install applications from unknown or non-Market sources.

Install Astro File Manager, long press on the apk file once you find it on your SD card. Follow the prompts to install.

Hi. I tried that route too and it still gives me the same error. Any other suggestions you might have?? Thank you.

Then there's a problem with the jar being written in some non-portable way. The developer needs to fix it. You see how easy it is to generate an apk - if the dev wants to continue to claim Android support, let them do it.

I emailed the developer and told them I was still having the parsing error problem and that there may be a problem with the .jar files. I appreciate your help and I'll keep you posted. Thank you again!
