Much too far from the waves
Hey guys

As you may know, I have been rocking the nexus for sometime now, and for the most part it has been good. Although during that entire time, I have had numerous glitches, bugs and restarts. Most of that stuff was minor and unimportant, but over time these things have turned into major annoyances. The force restarts are the worst. Over the last 5 days I have had 3 to 4 restarts in a day and to me, that's unacceptable. That coupled with the spotty lte, abysmal battery life and over heating, I'm done. I owned the razr for about a month and am actually missing it. So my question is, how hard will it be to get Verizon to give me back the razr? I don't want another nexus, or rezound or anything. I want the one phone that I owned to just work...

I really want this phone to work, im just fed up.

Btw,yes this is copied from the nexus forum, just looking for some more advice :)

I, just one week ago, had verizon send me a razr as a replacement to my nexus. So far so good. The razr is a better phone and more stable. I do miss the look of ICS, but the reception and stability improvements more than make up for it.

Yeah they said they couldnt replace it since it was outside the return window so they are sending me another Nexus. Im not holding my breath with this one, but maybe I can find someone willing to trade. As much I want to love the Nexus, I just cant get past the bad battery, reception and random reboots.

Did you call Verizon or go into the store?

I called *611 and asked for a tier 2 rep. He offered it to me right away.

Going into the store is about as useless as tits on a man.

Hmmmm So just calling up, asking for tier 2 rep, explain that this phone isnt right and ask for a white razr and it works?

To the OP, you could always just sell your GNex once you get the replacement and then just buy the white Razr. Im sure you can get a decent chunk for the GNex. There are still some people that want it! Good luck!!
Ive thought about that too. How much could i fetch for the nexus. And how much does a white razr go form

and I concur on the "good luck" with getting reps to swap to a different phone. you bought the GNex, and that's what the warranty covers. you'll probably be told to contact the manufacturer if you want a different phone. vzw has cracked down on the "Waaah I want a different phone" buyer's remorse crap. dumping too much money into giving stuff away.

If I buy a pair of pants at Walmart, can I return them to Target?
No, you can't exchange a phone you bought at Verizon through Costco.

I assumed it wouldnt work that way, I just know Costco has interesting ways to go about exchanges on product, I thought I might have missed something. No need to come off as condescending.

Im still a little torn between what I should do. On one hand, I do enjoy the phone and willing to give it another chance (Although battery is a bit of a kicker), but honestly I would MUCH prefer the Razr back. The biggest problem is just getting back to it. I could complain to Verizon again, but I feel a little guilty if the new phone has little problems. I could do a straight trade with someone via Craigslist or local listings, but that seems like a bit difficult to get it all taken care of. Plus I feel Verizon would have a problem with me swapping phones with other people. So I am at a bit of cross roads.

I traded in the Gnex after a week..same issues. The big Verizon store told me to pound sand. I went to a smaller kiosk at the mall, spoke to the manager and got it done.

Having screen shots of the no connectivity helped my cause. They did have me try another Sim card first.

I think you may be stuck

Good luck.

Hmmmm bummer. I put up a listing on the classifieds to see if people were interested. So far this new device hasnt restarted but the battery is still a problem with me. Its the phone in general rather than this phone specifically. Which is a bummer because I WANT to like the phone. I just like the Razr better.

I am outside the return window. Is it going to be as easy as walking in and simply complaining that my device is funky?

It should be, but your prolly gunna have to come out the pocket for a phone exchange.

Sorry, didn't get to the end of the thread but....

Mostly in-store, they can setup a CLN exchange for what you have.

Now talking to VZW since 4G in our area, I've exchanged a LOT of phones. Call into tech support... That's level 1, they can do nothing.

My SGN excuse was 3 months out, and NO updates, another samsung disaster like the droid charge update that took over 7 months.

Level 1 said they could connect me to Samsung... little did they know, I called Samsung before talking to them. I mentioned this and requested the next level of support.

Transferred.

Level 2 might try some additional troubleshooting, but explained the situation again, and how I didn't want to be stuck with waiting for an update with a broken SGN. I said the same story, talked with samsung, blah blah blah, nicely requested a supervisor.

Supervisor listened to my story and immediately suggested swapping for a MAXX, which has a higher value than the standard RAZR, and mentioned at the time they just came on the CLN list.

I was like sure.

Next day, I had a maxx in hand, and of course had to ship the SGN back in exchange in the pre-paid return box.

Your replacement comes in a box that you use to send your old phone back to Verizon. If you don't ship your old one back within a couple days they charge you full retail for the replacement. You cannot sell your old phone when you get a replacement.

In what part of my post did I tell the OP to keep his old phone and sell it instead of returning it to Verizon? I said he could sell the new one when he gets it and then buy the Razr with the money he got for his GNex.
