Im going to try and be as informative as possible. So heres what I have:
my 3d is hboot 1.50.000000
Rooted, but has S-on.
the radios, ruu ( i think) are all the newest versions
Android 2.3.4
MeanROM 2.X (cant remember)

Heres what I did:
I rooted, put CWM recovery on it, test drove a few ROMs. I tried to flash a kernel (silverneedle) and that put it into a boot-loop. I used fastboot to flash the stock kernel, got it working again, and decided to go with 4EXT for recovery, as I heard that 4EXT has the permissions to access the boot sector porperly, thus allowing kernels to flash properly and just overall better than CWM. Well, once i was up and running again with 4EXT, made a recovery (mean rom 2.0, which worked great) i tried flashing another kernel (Tiamat) so I could overclock to the 1.5 or so odd ghz. I got into another bootloop, tried to flash the stock kernel again, which didnt work, tried to restore the recovery of meanROM several times. That didnt work.
I couldnt find instructions on removing 4EXT and reverting to CWM, so i could use fastboot to reflash the stock kernel . I d/l'ed the CWM recovery file, and stupidly used ADB to try and overwrite 4EXT with the recovery.img file, hoping that i could fix it like i was used to.

Heres what I can do:
I can acess the bootloader and thats it. Cant go into recovery, that just restarts the phone and back into the boot-loop. I can send fastboot commands like: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
BUT: fastboot boot recovery.img restarts the phone and puts it back into the boot-loop.

I think Im semi-bricked, as I cant go into a recovery program (CWM or 4EXT, as I tried to overwrite with CWM to try and revert.) I have my original recovery of meanROM and the stock kernel on the USB card, which i dont think i can access. Sorry if this is too much info, i did say i would try and explain everything to the best of my noobish ability. My question is: Is there a way to fix my phone?

tomatoxflames,

I've moved your thread to the all-things-root section for the Evo 3D.

I'm betting there's some very smart folks who can dissect your issue and hopefully get you up and running again, especially since you seem to have partial functionality of your device that should give you some additional recovery options.

I'd make my own suggestions, but they certainly wouldn't be as helpful or on-target as would come from folks who know your device best.

Cheers and good luck!

The good news is that you're not bricked.

http://androidforums.com/evo-3d-all...oot-1-5-firmware-upgrade-ruu-flash-guide.html

Follow that instruction guide. That will restore you to full stock and you can try again. This time, I would stick with 4ext. It doesn't require fastboot to flash kernels properly. Also, use the AnthraX kernel if you want OC. The tiamat and silverneedle are not built for the new ROM build (2.17.651.5), so they cause bootlooping.

i see that its a sticky, but maybe in parentese's it should say (Think Youve Bricked Your Device? Read This, You Might Be In Luck) or put somewhere in the guide that the RUU can fix your device if your semi-bricked. Maybe thats what it means anyhow, but my understanding of the terminology might be a little lacking
