Oh I understand. The masses however, do not. You make a good point regarding using the phone as a USB stick, but that doesn't describe the experience in general. That's just one thing (and I agree, it's stupid). Apple has made a fortune (and revived their name, which came close to dying) by creating closed, controlled systems that allow people to get what they generally want out of products without needing tutorials and expert help to use them. Is that for everyone? Absolutely not.. but it is for most people.
I'll use Myspace as an example. Myspace allowed you to customize "anything" to your hearts content, and what you ended up with was a bloated, slow, ugly, service that's dying it's rightful death.
I don't want to argue my point too far, because I'm not an Apple fanboy. I'm game for anything, and I'm still using my Nexus One as my main phone.. I just thought it was fair to point out that I do carry it around with me, because the Nexus is good, but not great.
But the things I love to do on my iPhone (Play great games, like Final Fantasy, Words with Friends, etc do not exist on the Nexus. The battery drains like crazy on the phone, especially compared to my 3GS and that leaves me at a point where I need to go look online and find out what hidden things need to be turned on or off. Multi-tasking, while nice in some situations can be a burden. I need to get a task manager, set rules, close apps often, or run the risk of a slower, hotter, less lasting phone). I suppose in the end it comes down to personal preference, and I wouldn't make a final choice at this point, but I think to dismiss the 3GS over the Nexus given Androids early state is a bit premature.

I don't think you understand what "crippled" means. For me? Crippled is the inability to customize anything, tether, install third-party apps, multi-task, and much more out of the box. The iPhone can't even be used as a giant USB stick. How moronic is that?
If by "GOOD" you mean "my own phone treats me like I'm a five-year-old child," then sure. Not everyone enjoys being treated that way, though.
